Need To Stop Regional Price Abuse

So I am seeing that some people are using vpn to buy games in cheap price and bypassing their current region. This is bad because my online friend lives in Argentina and he was trying to buy a sonic game in Argentina but he couldn't buy because the devs has raised its prices and this problem is because people are changing region so we need some new security.

Purchase prices are tied to the billing address on a payment method, not by region detected by the store.

but they use google to get billing address of that country and then used some prepaid card which they bought for cheap maybe 1$ they use the same billing address to purchase games in cheap. Hence, regional pricing abuse flourishes.

Yes. People are going to find ways to get around region restrictions. Steam has already implemented many countermeasures. Despite all of those, some people will still find a way.

Most of the bigger publishers, like your SEGA for Sonic, don't bother too much about regional price ever. So even if there was enough in place to stop every single attempt to bypass region restrictions, the publishers would still charge a higher price. They think their game is good enough to demand a higher price in every region. In that regard it doesn't matter what Steam does or doesn't do.

This is where we say "vote with your wallet".

There are plenty of people who get banned for circumventing the system, it is often just a matter of time before Steam gets on their tail.
Sooner or later, they are getting caught after spending a lot on cheap(er) games from another region.

Doesn't work like that, you have no clue what your talking about. You also need a payment method issued by that country to change your region. So you can't just Google an address and change your region.

It's as strict as it can be without sending someone to your house to verify it.

Where is your source that devs raised prices to combat people buying it in other regions for cheap?

Tied to payment method of your card/account. I I pay by card I need to use my address. Not the Country, City or street the FULL ADDRESS. If I skip part or use an address that is not the registered address of the card the payment would get denied.

Don't make up stories about things you clearly don't understand just because you don't like the regional prices. Devs set those so take it up with them as this as nothing to do with this forum and the Steam Client

Gift card wouldn't work for changing region, people lie fyi....

Once your region is changed you can use a gift card, but in order to change the region you need to use a payment method issued by that region, not a gift card

You can, but in order to buy something you need a regional payment method.
For example you cannot use a credit card registered at an US address , use PayPal tied to an Australian bank account, nor a wallet card in Euro.

Again, you do not know what you are talking about. AGAIN - to change region you need to make a payment with a billing address and payment method from THAT REGION.

Trading/selling TF2 keys is not a billing method from that region. The only way that would work is if they ALREADY changed regions.

There isn't any way steam can make it more secure, and again

@brian9824 that was the devs of Sonic Mania who raised the price.
