Please add Scan QR code login function for Steam
Please add Scan QR code login for steam.
Users can use the mobile app to scan the QR code provide by the PC app login page to login.
And when user use the QR code to login, the login info and username/password should not be saved in the PC.

Why?
I am a moderator of a Steam forum. Many new players are complaining their account are stolen by the Internet cafe and hackers.
Steam saved their login info and username/password in the PC and the hacker use it to stolen their accounts.
They have to go to the Internet cafe because they are students who do not have their own PC.

Please add Scan QR code login function for Steam, so that they can protect their accounts.

And the feature will greatly reduce the workload of steam customer tickets!!!!!

Just saying; your not a stem modorator unless you got an orange user name and the steam moderator badge to go with it; otherwise your a helper player.

Otherwise, Steam has stated they wont add anymore means to log on; as it already stands the fact that two step authentican barely holds up on its own should tell you that Valve has no interest in reworking the login system when the current one holds up as is even if it barely can time to time

I mean a website like reddit, I am a modorator in it. Not steamcommunity.com

New players don't know...and too many new players.

And some Internet cafe change the steam files to force enable the option to save credentials...

Kind of meaningless here to even bring it up whatsoever. Actually it's entirely meaningless to bring up as it serves no real purpose nor does it add validity to the suggestion.

Anyway. People too freely give their logins away, believe shoddy scams or other scare tactics and will hand over such things incredibly easily. QR code, otp, steam guard. Someone will still give away full access.

Without smarter users or more secure users, this will always be an issue. The question is how far do we go to inconvinence the whole because of the security ignorant & gullible.

It has nothing to do with being new to Steam. Every website with a login has an option you have to CHOOSE to enable to stay logged in/ remember me.

However, it can reduce the number of stolen accounts. That is enough... In different Countries, the hackers use different way to stolen accounts. In our Country, it use this way...
So almost all game apps in my Country have QR code function and it works great to protect the accounts. Only Steam works like an ancient program....

Note QR codes do not solve any of the problems you claim. All it does is make it slightly easier to login.

Hijackings don’t change because you use QR codes to login. It does not reduce the number of stolen accounts

Discord rolled out QR code logins and literally within 10 minutes phishing sites were already hijacking accounts by attempting logins and sending the QR code to the phishing website for the user to “authorize”

I’d recommend you understand how security works first

QR codes do not solve any of your supposed problems

Without qr code, you have to enter your password in the pc. After your password is lost, your account will be stolen. It is verified by many companies. Why dont you think it will not work?

QR code scams are so common Discord has an entire section on it

https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360056292492-QR-Code-Scams-and-how-to-prevent-them

If QR codes were as safe as you claim
the above would never work

Again you don’t understand the fundamentals of security. QR codes don’t solve that

Well, that's the old catch 22 isn't it?

They need to be educated, and the sad reality is that those that need the education are often those that don't WANT to hear it.

All you can do is just do your bit.

QR code itself may not improve, but
the important thing is this.
Again, this solution are verified by many game companies in our Country. I wont against you if you still think that not work...

Again this is pointless

Once you scan my phishing QR code I OWN YOUR ACCOUNT

I don’t need to know your password. I’m already in. You’re totally screwed. I’ll change your password and you’re dead.

QR codes don’t stop account hijacks

Yes, with the PUBG become popular, we got a super large amount of new players... they dont know any thing about steam, they just play PUBG and bring a lot of stolen accounts posts.
