Use Coinbase instead of BitPay
Hello, BitPay is not a federally approved payment system. Recently I was buying a game, and it took around 2.5 hours for the payment to go through, but BitPay decided to to send the funds to you guys Steam. They decided to refund me 50% of the money instead. Their reason was that I was underpaid on 0.00004 BTC (3 cents). Unfortunately the bitcoin price at that time went down a little but then jumped back up and I overpaid by $1.2.

They didn't respect the guaranteed rice they told me to pay within that 10 minute window. BitPay support is horrible and they wont give me my game, or remaining of my money.

Steam support just said, we didn't receive any money, and I have to contact BitPay.

See this mess? Please get rid of the robbers BitPay and use a real payment service called Coinbase.

COinbase would probably have the same problem. This is what happens when you use what happens when you use an unregulated superfluid currency and need to convert it to an actual currency.

But hey , why don't you hit the people at COinbase with the idea. They could approach Valve and offer to exchange real money for the crypto-currency.

Meaning they gtake your magic coins or whatever and give Valve Real money based on the value of those mario coins,
Coinbase is federally regulated, plus I can instantly pay with cash and it will convert that to bitcoin instantly and send it to steam instantly. (With a 3% cost).

The point of my initial post is that BitPay screwed with me. I paid $32 for that game, then BitPay decided it was underpaid by 3 cents after 2.5 hours. So they didn't pay Steam, and paid me back $17 dollars.

How can I get my money back? Good luck. I understand crypto really well, been doing it since 2012 but this is pure theft and robbery with BitPay.

Then send a request to CCoinpay to partner with Valve on that. That's how Bitpay got in.
The Federal Government does not regulate crypto currancy. From what I see, Coinbase is simply referring to it's business license in reguards to USD transactions, not Bitcoin.

This also highlights the main issues with Bitcoin, the volatility of the market for them, and why Valve does not accept them directly.

Why not convert your fake currency to real money yourself before spending it on Steam?

That's not as easy as most people think. For all the talk of high value. It's actually pretty hard to find someone willing to actually pay real money for them.

You know like how there are skins supposedly worth $500+ dollars but be damned if you can find anyone who can prove someone actually paid that much for one in direct cash.

I know it's not easy, that's why you keep seeing people begging desperately to be allowed to spend it everywhere.

That's the point. It's fake money, imaginary, made up, non-redeemable, pyramid scheme.

You could rename any of those crrencies South Seas Trading Company shares. The fact that its so easy to create a new one is what also undermines it.

Stop arguing regarding whether you like Crypto Currencies or not. The whole point of this message is simply to state that BitPay is one verified merchant in Steam. Steam has no idea what they got into.

For a $25 dollar game, I paid $4 of fees = $29, the transaction went successful in the blockchain
BitPay decided to cancel the transaction and not pay Steam! And they just gave me back $17 in Bitcoin.

Shady business. https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7e7wsq/shady_business_of_bitpay_buy_29_game_on_steam/?st=ja81a1fz&sh=f249b468

Did the process change since I used it?

Bitpay used to show me - I've used it 3 or 4 times - a price in Bitcoin, how can you underpay the price in bitcoin (without making a mistake or using buggy software)? oO Did you record the window where they show you the payment they ask of you and double checked the amount in BTC to your transaction in retrospect?

As said. point another provider at Valve and have them send in a proposal.

I used it once before and it worked after 2 hours. I should have recorded that window, unfortunately I had more trust in them. Plus being 0.00004 BTC under is hard to believe, I had around 10 people sitting in the room waiting for me to buy that.

Still, Steam or BitPay wont respond back to customer support. I told them send me the receipt, and they didn't
Thank you Steam for doing the right thing for your customers! http://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1464096684955433613
