Why does shame even have to be a factor.
Maybe I don't wan't to have to keep having to undo all my privacy settings when I refresh my library on Geforce Now.
Maybe I want to be able to use functions like drop in drop out multiplayer without also letting everyone in my friends list know exactly when I am cranking it to hentai.
Maybe I just want to show off my achievements to a co-worker without them also seeing how many hours i put into "Futa Fix ♥♥♥♥ Dine N' Dash."
Maybe I just want to keep my kinks to myself and shame has nothing to do with it.
Before anyone suggests it maybe I don't want to have to buy the same game twice or deal with logging in and out of multiple accounts just for basic privacy functionality.
You know what? What is the point of suggesting stuff if all you get back is a bunch of entitled pricks who just want to talk down to you. I got news, this is a friggen suggestion page! These messages aren't for you! they are for Steam!
We don't care that you are happy with letting strangers look at your porn collection, we don't. If you agree with the thread voice your sentiment, if you don't then just leave it alone. You just look like a ♥♥♥♥ otherwise!
(sorry to the person who I quoted, this wasn't all directed at you, you were just the most recent person who made this comment).
That's what I'd like to know too, but some form of "What will people say/think" often is, for some reason.
Well you have to undo your entire game privacy when you want to refresh anything on third party platforms, otherwise it won't work properly.
I also don't see how having your own games private would affect your multiplayer, since you can always invite people.
The "enhanced now-playing" info is a pet peeve of mine from the other end, I want to choose not to see other people's exact details since they can often be end-game spoilers.
Later, you can go to 'View' in menu and select Hidden Games if you hid something by accident.
Someone didn't bother reading the post....
Sorry for being over a month late with replying. I tried to avoid even looking at my replies for this post. All the obnoxious passive aggressive replies got to me. Not just from this thread but... you know... literally any thread on the Steam boards, any time you voice your opinion on anything. This place makes Reddit look like the community pot luck. So I just sort of exploded and then closed my laptop and went to bed. But I stand by everything I said!
But you had an actual response making some valid points and it felt rude not to say anything. I think the main issue I take from it is this. Steam selling adult games is actually kind of a good thing. It shows they acknowledge that games aren't just for kids Gaming is a multifaceted art form that can appeal to a multitude of tastes.. Yeah that means a lot of hentai boobies but that also allows empowers developers to make what they want without having to worry what rating its going to get. Sort of like what HBO did to television.
However the social aspects of Steam are still very much in the scope of a "BIG OPEN GAME SPACE WHERE YOU CAN SHOW OFF ALL YOUR SICK CHEEVOS TO YOUR L33T GAMER BROS!!!!" Which is cool, I like that. I haven't been actively using this service for half my life for nothing. I just feel that given Steam clearly does understand how many adults are on their platform, that they should also understand that we might want to exercise discretion. While still wanting to show off my sick cheevos and all.
as for this kind of response, steam will not listen to anything we say regardless, the whole of the suggestions/ideas category is bogus to make us think that we are listened to, you can report a game for example for having committing very heinous crimes or something and its likely nothing will happen, the community is moderated by users like you and I, when was the last time a steam / valve employee was seen in these parts?
