If you think so. It does to me. I can showcase whatever I create in my signature. It shows my ability and who knows. Maybe someone might like some graphics done?
Well, I agree to turning it off for mobile, but I however believe pictures should be allowed. Why would I want a text? That's just lame. I understand maybe back in the days of running a 56k modem but we aren't on the days of dial up anymore.
I'm all for showcasing and expressing ones creativity, but I'm not sure if a forum signature is the right place for that.
But no I just find they add nothing but unnecessary space between posts. Also they tend to break up the flow when reading.
Why not? I understand there are plenty of other places to show off creativity but why not here? The whole point is to broadcast your "creativity" on multiple platforms. But to sit there and think everyone's just gonna be a spammer is a little extreme. We can limit the amount to avoid that. It's just a thought and who knows, it may never happen. It may only be from their store since they solely wanna make money.
Some people do it anyway. This will at least contain their creativity and let us hide it (possibly).
I find it amusing to see what a person can create. It's their signature, their calling card. What does having images and the year have anything to do with it? If that was the case, memes wouldn't exist and neither would Facebook. So realistically you can't say the same about adding images, however you can say it about people being worried it will eat up so much bandwidth and cause lag, no one is running a 56k modem anymore. I understand maybe not everyone has 1GB though.
The part about year was because you mentioned 56k, which people do still use when they can't even get the lowest tier dsl sporting a whopping 768kbps. How they game and/or use Steam well that's an entirely separate discussion.
Abilities? Using a stockphoto (that you hopefully paid for), applying a text and a logo from a game and some photoshop brushes is not exactly something to show off.
Either way, that's what the artwork section is for.
You can still show off by creating an avatar. I hazard a guess and claim I spend more time creating mine than you did spend on your signature.
As it probably would turn out to be some sort of point-shop purchasable premade signature as every other customization option that's been lately added to the Community.
