Steam should make their own Credit Card
Over the years I've seen tons of store chains that have their own credit cards, and they usually give some sort of loyalty reward bonus for using it as much credit cards do like air miles, or other things.

Maybe Steam should get their own credit card too and incorporate some sort of loyalty rewards program with it too. I think the big credit card companies probably are able to do this for large businesses.

What do you think? Personally if I'm going to have a themed credit card, I think a gamer themed one looks cooler that whatever else the credit card companies are giving out.

We already have a loyalty programme - the points shop.

Steam makes enough money without having to deal with banking laws already.

Some companies allow choosing a desing. VISA once had a series with motives from popular games.

What if you could get points in the points shop from buying anything anywhere with your steam credit card, or bank discounts on games, etc... ?

Considering many people already don't know what to spend their points on and other existing programmes are more widespread and offer better return value?
You own bank propably already offers a better system. Without any of the data accumulation advertising companies knowing where you spent how much and how regularly.

I'm sure they could make some other sort of loyalty program like points you get from using the credit card than can be redeemed for games on Steam.

Valve would have to get a banking license first. Not sure they'll do something like that.

Plenty of stores have their own credit cards through VISA/Master Card/AMEX etc... with loyalty programs. If they can get them, I'm sure there is a way for Valve to get a card through them. I don't know that they need a banking license for that, but I'm not an expert. I wasn't implying for them to have their own brand of card, it could still be a VISA or something else. Credit Card companies offer those services to businesses.

Steam already has a loyalty program with points. You get points for making purchases already. If they wanted, they already could make it so that you get discount coupons for games and such.

Other than you wanting a Steam CC, there is nothing in your proposal that isn't already available or possible.

Steam points are not that useful, unless you could convert them to real currency and buy games. I have almost a mil and I see no point using them.

Was this reply REALLY worth resurrecting such an old thread?

This thread was quite old before the recent posts, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
