... the "bit" of a game has nothing to do with it's size.
Both these apply to what "bits" means for what "bit" a game is:
https://www.computerhope.com/jargon/num/8bit.htm
And "62 bit" never existed.
The "bit" of a game also limits the size of a file can be (though more based on disk format, eg: FAT32 is limited to 2 GB file sizes) and the amount of RAM the game can access.
im quite aware of it and i still noted that there is a space taken as well in megabits AKa space required to house the program.
now if you can explain to me how a 16 bit game, that takes up 6mb of space on a SSd or HDD or roughly 6/1000 of a gigabyte, from 30 some years ago can now take 667 times more space for the exact same game.... im all ears.
It doesn't matter if it is 16 or 32 or 64. That won't change the file size.
If a game 20-30 years ago is 6 MB, then it will still be 6 MB on a modern system.
If they updated the game with newer graphics and game engine, then that would account for increased size of the game.
And none of that has to do with Steam/Valve, but with what the developer has chosen to do with the game.
As has been asked:
Compressing can reduce the download size, but the application needs to be decompressed in order to run.
I.E: I can't just convert the files one of my games into a .ZIP and expect it to run.
Well for instance Chrono Trigger on snes fit into a 32 megabit cartridge and it requires 2gb on steam because they added additional content like movies to it.....
So again, what game
YOu wan smaller games, buy smaller games. You want games with good graphics and lots of conent, well its gonna take more space,
any snes or playstation 1 games that has not seem a revamp in graphics.
secret of mana OG, final fantasy 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 non remake.
then you can explain to me this:
FF 9 being the biggest playstation 1 game with 4x650mb cd for a grand total of 2.6 gig in size and its not revamped. its og graphics and sound. there is nothing added.
tell me how valve and steam managed to go from 2.4 gig to 9.6 gig
See that nonsense? That's what SQUARE-ENIX did to their game that VALVE had no hand in and Steam sure as hell didn't because it's just a program.
・Achievements. those dont take space
・Seven game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes. speed and game mode dont take space its just a setting to change
・Autosave auto save dont take space or at worst 2mb for auto save and 2 mb per normal save
・High-definition movies and character i doubt that the game took 7 gig to put into skyrim graphics
