Hide certain games/achievements
Both Xbox and PS4 have the ability to hide specific games from your profile, y'know, just incase you wanna hide a game you're not exactly proud to flaunt. I feel like this feature is long overdue to be on Steam. At the moment, to hide one game, you have to hide all your games from your profile. This can ruin the desire to get achievements or to show your other games, merely because of maybe one or two games you don't want to show.

I feel like it's long overdue that people grow up.
Either don't buy games you are "not proud to flaunt" or use a secondary account. Or get rid of your judgemental friends.

ay man im not tryna end friendships just because im tryna play some nsfw games

and making a secondary account shouldn't have to be the only option to circumvent that, rather than just having a feature that has been prominent even in the console scene for years now

How about learning how to use the search feature first....

And now you declared yourself that you are playing NSFW games... Literally no one on this planet cares about what your current fetish is and how you please it. Everyone now has a proof of you playing such games. Hiding any specific game wont ever change anything about people knowing you doing so

well hell if any of my friends find this specific forum of me then unlucky me, but all i was told by steam support was to recommend the feature here, so alas. whether or not people care doesn't really matter, its a basic feature that should've been added years ago, even more so if people have continued to post it as you've proved

Steam support told you to post here just to get rid of you. They have nothing to do with suggestions and ideas and just because they told you to post here doesn't mean they actually like the idea. Anything that even smells of a suggestion they give people that copy and paste response.

Also feature is ready there, its called making your account private.

Just don't buy games that you are too embarrassed to have in your library or get a second account for such games.

gwarsbane, refer to the original post, the reason i suggested it is because of that being the only solution in the first place. its easy to say just dont get the games, and you'd be correct if you're talking to someone who hasn't already, but unfortunately i have and obviously i regret it.

you shouldn't have to sacrifice the ability to show achievements or your other games, merely because of one regrettable purchase. yeah, i could make a second account, but that shouldn't be the only solution and doesn't help those who already made the mistake of purchasing a game they wish not to show.

sure, steam support probably did as you said, but hey, wont hurt to try nevertheless

Hey, bro for my case I'm okay showing people my games even NSFW or games I'm not happy with but I wanna know because I wanna hide a certain game achievement because it is shown on my Rarest Achievement Showcase in my profile and I wanna hide them. I wanna show other games' achievements because I think for this game the achievement system is broken because every achievement is so rare. the game name is retrowave btw and it's so good.

This would be a very useful feature. A friend of mine's rarest achievements list is being overwhelmed by meaningless tiny achievements from a game not many people have played. They don't care about these achievements which seem like they were added just for achievement hunters, but there's no way to hide them.

Inb4 "Just don't play the game", this is a nonsense answer to give about a platform for playing games.

It's 2021, it's reasonable for people to expect more granular control over what data of theirs is shared, rather than a blanket "share everything or nothing" option. And it's reasonable for people to share that request here, it's the devs' job to triage and decide if it's worth it. If you think the addition of the feature would negatively impact your experience using Steam then say that and explain how. I haven't seen a single "against" answer on any discussion that isn't "I wouldn't benefit from this so no-one would".

Agree. I would like to hide the SF4 achievements. It's an old game not relevant anymore for my showcase.

Maybe it's better to start raping people instead of buying games you are "not proud to flaunt". Or just pirate them, since that way you won't need to switch to a secondary account.
Yeap, just get rid of your kids and tell your boss to get off your case if they ever notice you playing nsfw games.
It sure is easier if some unrelated people have inconveniences, then implementing a feature, that was actually requested way too many times to be ignored.
