I know which one you are refering to particularily...
You have any proofs for your assumption?
However as every time you have people and the internet in a mix, things become weird. People ends up upvoting meme reviews 'for the lulz' or upvoting spam ones because of profit (Which ultimately killed Greenlight)
Same why we get the Barbie games tagged as 'Horror' or adult games as 'Family Friendly'
dang ol' THANK YOU. we can't even block serial abusers of this, forcing us to keep seeing their copied/pasted crap getting propped up by rewards from the same nitwits repeatedly all over the site. they know this ascii crap exists, would not be hard to add it all to blocked terms lists [my point is, I shouldn't have to do this myself], or give those of us over 12 years old an option to just turn it all tf off. Cyberpunk 2077 with addons is well over 100 bucks USD....
excuse me for wanting a genuine review of a near day's salary's priced game instead of a meme bragging about someone's "self abuse", or an ascii cat originally created by someone old enough to be their grandparent, from someone who likely neither buys their own games [it FEELS LIKE "why do they care about what they spend money on, or others", ALL FOR THE lolz] nor do they ever create any original content, look at their profiles, they repeatedly COPY AND PASTE these reviews on multiple games and dlc..... I thought that was against TOS....? this business makes A TON of money internationally, what other business would tolerate this behavior in such a marketplace...? there's spam forums and discord for that. you see curated and just fake reviews online, sure, but not this crap. it helps nobody.
if the game is tremendously popular such as terraria though, then yeah you may start seeing a lot of useless ones such as "stop looking at negative reviews and buy the game"
with that being said... OH ♥♥♥♥ THIS THREAD WAS OLD BEFORE THE RECENT POST! I'M CONFUSED AHHHHHHH
Literally, you can make a page and a half serious, in depth review describing the game but because you opened with "I pirated this game and enjoyed it so much I bought it" you get nuked and can never again remake that review. I've reported people's excellent reviews and seen them nuked because of that. I GUARANTEE you you won't get ascii art spam or the 4000th divorced father review nuked in even twice the time.
There is zero justification to assume Valve even WANTS good reviews over meme reviews. That's simply not how their system is designed or implemented at any level and they have put zero effort into it since adding the "Funny" vote option.
If you don't believe me, go look at Ultrakill's store page and see how long it takes to find a review that describes the game.
I understand wanting the system to improve but Valve has made their position on the matter extremely clear. I've written more reviews than most people have played games and I know now Valve would prefer I have made them ASCII instead.
You click one button "maybe later" and it's gone. Not that complicated.
