Option to Disable Avatar Frames in Friends List
i'd really wish this would be an option. my friends list looks cluttered and my eyes lock immediately onto the bright neon and other kinds of frames when i'm trying to scroll through, it's not ideal.
i'm not interested in this new customisation system and i'd like to be able to disable it and have my friends list go back to looking neat and easier to navigate.

alternate suggestion: option to disable animations in profiles, for the sake of performance.

This feature already exists, doesn't it?

that is to disable the animations, i already have it disabled. i just wish to disable avatar frames as a whole, so that they don't appear in my friends list.
That is strange because... with that option disabled I don't see any traces of avatar frames at all on my Friends list, lest the mini-profile showcase appears while hovering over their avatar. (assuming that Steam is properly restarted and that the Friends list is refreshed after toggling the switch)

I absolutely agree that we need options for the new animated stuff on Steam, for friends list, profiles, and even in the store (gifs used on them).

We should be able to say if we want to see them or not and not be "forced" (right now) to have them always on.

it definitely feels like they're forced on us and it's absolutely doesn't make me want to purchase more products to buy avatar frames with steam points, if not doing the opposite

it's cool to see steam trying out new customisation options and it's neat going through people's profiles but i absolutely do not want to see this in my friends list, i find it obnoxious and i'd wager a lot of people feel the same.

An option to not see them on friends lists would be nice. But also on the forums and other stuff. I really dislike all this animated stuff.

I would also like an option to disable animations

I find he animation effect grabs the attention more than a standard static image. And yes I have one. I think maybe an option to prevent seeing them completely isn't really needed. An option to toggle on/off the animation effect should work just as well but still allow everyone to see the borders and stuff.

That way everyone gets their fancy stuff they purchase via the point store. Just a little restricted. Allowing user to hide them completely kinda defeats the whole point of the point shop.

weirdly enough, you're right, it disables the animations then completely disables avatar frames in the friends list altogether when you restart, just wish that was a little more clear.

i would still like to be able to disable animations on profiles and miniprofiles though, as the way it lags.

no.... instead what we need is more more colors, more lights, more flashing and blinking, lights, sirens, bells and whistles. Until everyone on this platform suffers the infinite ADD H.F.I.L. that the UI design makes me suffer..

I'd definitely like such a feature on the forum (not just in chat). Animations are often distracting and can impact system performance.

I agree it's very annoying lol - Hey bro, what does HFIL mean? I'm guessing ADD is attention deficit disorder, but what is HFIL?
