How about Spell Check for forums
I know this sounds crazy but billion dollar steam should have spell check in the forums.
My spelling mistakes are underlined red, but it gives me no suggestion for the correct spelling.

While I can't speak for everyone, wouldn't it be simpler to just use a dedicated text editor? That's what I do: type, spellcheck, proofread and revise in editor, then copy/paste to Steam's text box.

Though admittedly I nearly always have at least one text editor instance open anyways, and my vision isn't the greatest, so I can't see the small squiggly red line on the text area's dark background without leaning close to the monitor; so I might be biased in this regard.

Easier I think to just use a browser, chrome has build-in spell checker and you can also add some addons that will do it if you want

Steam is a billions dollar company. Wtf we have to copy and paste or use another program. It is not really that hard to put a spell check app into this forum. I really really can not believe after all this time Steam has not done this. Wtf who is working for them.

I admit I am not a good speller. And the stress I have to go through in order to not look like a complete idiot cause I can not spell a word is really stressfull in this day and age, and the extra time I spend to try the find the correct spelling. I would expect this in year 2000 maybe.

Maybe by year 2030 steam will catch up to 2000 technology.

If you are worried about looking like a complete idiot, how about not spam bumping for a good start.

I am a horrible speller my self, that is why I use the browser
Valve may add spell-checker at some point, but I think they got a lot more to do before that, I mean in the end how many really use Steam to write stuff that needs it to be spell checked all that much :wrynhappy:?
You also need to remember Steam has multi-language users on it, so to add a spell-checker they need to support at least all the languages that the interface supports, and not confuse one with the other, like something that may look like a typo in one language may be all good and fine on a different one, and this can get really annoying to some users,
just to point there was a time that for some reason we had a red line under words that were supposedly miss-spelled, the forums where full of multi langrage users complaining about it

also need to add that Steam being a gaming platform has some of its own langrage stuff like games items, or names of characters in games, or actions that you do in-game, all this stuff can seem like a mistake to most spell checkers as outside of Gaming they mean nothing

For now, just use a browser when you want to spell check, chrome has its build in pretty well

And maybe someday Valve will get around to add something like it to Steam
