Pre-Installing games you don't own
I own a small computer repair/refurbishing/bulding business and one service I like to offer my gaming customers is to pre-install games they want from Steam, Bnet, Riot etc.. While it is possible to install games from those other services even if you don't own the game, I don't see that option through Steam. Is there something I can do or apply for that would allow me to serve my clients better?

Keep in mind, I am located in a small country town in Australia, so internet here can be pretty awful. While I get between 200-350mbps download speed, most of my customers have to suffer on Fixed Wireless NBN with a max throughput of 25mbps (They usually get between 15-18mbps)

I don't see why they should give you access to the original game files when you don't own the license for that particular game.

Since you do not own a license, you are not allowed to download the game files.

I hear Elon is doing something about the slow net.

There's no way they're gonna give you access to files for a game you haven't even purchased.

You guys clearly haven't gotten the point.

Then why do other game installers like BNet allow this? The only game on my Bnet account is Hearthstone but I can install every other game (WOW, Warcraft, COD etc.) no problems.

Pre-installing games requires to have access to the game files, which requires a valid license for each game to be able to download AND install the game.

If you mean preloading a game that isn't release yet, yes that's possible and has to be enabled by the developers.

Because Blizzard sells their own games, not third-party games, Activision is part of Blizzard.

Most of the Battle.net games are actually free to demo. I can't download Overwatch or Call of Duty for example.

There are many games on Steam that do not use any type of DRM, so allowing to download them would be giving them away for free. And these which have DRM will be cracked in an instance, so they're given away for free, too.

If you go to blizzard(dot)com/en-us/download/ and click on any game it will download even if you don't own it. Funnily enough I also found out its possible to install any UWP game as well even if you don't own it with a simple Windows Powershell command. The game obviously won't play but I did download Forza Horizon 4 for a customer earlier today.

All you need is the appx.Package name along with the install powershell command and it will take care of the rest. Doesn't matter if its a Microsoft 1st party title or not.

So it is not an option the Blizzard store gives you but rather you using tricks to download stuff from a less than secure server.

If you think Starlink will magically solve people's internet problems, you're very probably mistaken.

Plus, having internet vulnerable to a Kessler cascade is a wonderful strategic weakness.

Care to explain? And if your reply is satellite internet has horrible latency, you're wrong in the case of Starlink.

Latency? No, the problem will be politics, and the fact that there'll be so much clutter in the orbit that one stray meteorite can cause a chain reaction.

To say nothing of the fact that this swarm is already interfering with space observations, and not even a tenth of it is up there yet.

And finally, most developed places already have good internet on the ground as it is.
