So, for CHEATING, they got a VAC ban WHAT A SURPRISE?
Your 'very nice friend' was a CHEATER and deserved to have their inventory bound to their account.
I find your lack of periods more disturbing than any VAC ban. Have you chosen to "hide" those too?
So what you're telling me is as a deterrent it isn't effective enough and should be harsher since even the consequences didn't stop him from "testing" a cheat.
Think about what this means for a start - what IS a VAC ban? Why, it's a ban for cheating in multiplayer games where you spoiled the experience for everyone else in your own selfish pursuit of enjoyment.
That is perhaps THE finest example of something we SHOULD DEFINITELY know about as other users.
So, no, absolutely no way. It's effective in telling us whether you're worth playing with. In some games, like Rust, for example, if this weren't here and people innocently teamed up with you, not knowing you were a cheater then they could be banned too.
Furthermore, there is the elephant in the room which I KNOW you're being dishonest about - the simple fact that this removal would only encourage people to cheat more.
Valve tried things like this - timed bans and so on, and what happened - people lied and kept cheating. So no, this is a valid result based on LONG experience which works.
Yeah, ok. In other words, he cheated.
Bottom line...it's REALLY hard to get a VAC. You literally have to go out of your way to get one.
No, I don't remember that because it never happened.
Neither do I.
When I was 8 it was the 1970s, and me and my dad built my first computer (slowly) - a NASCOM 1. He did electronics and I was learning. Naturally because that was the state of affairs then, you get to respect and have a deeper understanding of what's going on plus you've got to roll your sleeves up and learn how to use it on your own.
So yeah, I royally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with code, on games or not. Later on with the ZX80, 81, and Spectrum I took great delight working with a friend who was a bloody genius, and we would put together utility programs to mod other games - one notable one I still have in my possession is a full modification suite for Jet Set Willy.
But here's the thing, while I was well into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with code and doing what I wanted with it, had online gaming been on my radar then, I still would not have done ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with code that hurt other's play because even when I was a kid, I understood basic empathy.
So, no the "remember when you was 8 argument" is perhaps one of the dumbest excuses ever, agreed.
