Open yur screenshot uploader>at the borrom show on Disc
open the directory and there are all your screenshots .jpg
open in an image viewer and save as a png. use the windows snip tool or prtSc on the full image and save as png?
its not that hard.
Also Steam top left corner>settings>Ingame>look beneath the Screenshot folder> Save an uncompressed copy.
I think you are misunderstanding some things and need to look up the differences between png and jpeg to understand what's going on and why. From my perspective, with some experience with working with graphics, developing websites and such, offering a jpeg by default and a png if you want an "uncompressed" version is the right way to go. A png is arguably better than using the highest quality jpeg possible instead of png.
It's really an issue of lossy file types versus lossless file types. Where jpeg chops out bits of the picture to reduce file size (even at maximum quality) and png does not. If you care about quality and want the highest quality base image, you don't start with jpeg. You want something lossless, like png.
Well uploading the screenshots to Steam aren't the only possible use for those screenshots. If you just want to share the screenshot on Steam than the existing jpeg is generally sufficient. If you have some other use in mind, or want to edit the screenshot in any way then starting with a png, and working with a lossless file is preferred and that's where that uncompressed copy comes in.
If you don't think the default jpeg is good enough then edit the png and save it as a max quality jpeg. It's probably not a high demand feature for Steam to add jpeg quality options otherwise.
And every time I also have to replace screenshots from the folder where the uncompressed copy is.
I wouldn't complain about it if it was simple, all these actions take a lot of time, just to upload a screenshot in good quality.
which is kinda pointless as Steam/Akamai will compress any upload anyway.
Well you're in a niche there, again as the existing jpegs are of sufficient quality for viewing. And the PNG gives you the option to work with a lossless image including creating a higher quality jpeg.
Yes, trying to re-save every screenshot as a max quality jpeg would be time consuming. You might be overestimating the benefit or necessity of doing this. And there might not be that much incentive on Steam's side to add multiple format options.
All I am saying is the existing system has a rationale behind it. The need for every screenshot to be at max quality perhaps does not.
