Please give us a way to get rid of these stickers
I never would have agreed to take the free one if I knew I was going to end up being stuck with it. If you're not going to let us trade it, sell it, or turn it into gems, please at least give us an option to delete it without having to go through the hassle of trying to get Steam support to do it. That's a waste of everyone's time.

The thing you are overlooking is the age-old problem "can it be exploited?"

And the answer is ,yes, yes it can.

Someon loses access to their account or gets phsished, what's to stop a makicious party deleting bloody everything out of spite? Nothing.

So as with everything on Steam you first question for a proposal HAS to be "can this be ruined by exploitation?"

And in this case, yes it absolutely can.

And if you're now thinking "well, we can put in safeguards" then you're still not thinking, as that could be exploited too, as account access being taken over means exactly that.

This is precisely why Valve do not allow permanent deletions of things.
Just give an ability to hide the undesirable stuff and an option somewhere to look through hidden to unhide, tah-dam problem solved.

That's the point.

Basic bottom line is that there has to be a way to delete unwanted garbage in your inventory that can't be traded or gemmed, whether it's garbage Valve gave to you or garbage some crappy game like Killing Floor 2 foisted on you. That's just simple common sense. Just add a GD delete button. The problem is that we as customers are stuck dealing with the laziest company in existence. Nobody can tell anyone to actually do their jobs, so if no Valve employee spontaneously decides one day to make a delete button instead of just continuing to play DOTA all day, then we're stuck with the broken system.

They DO ALLOW PERMANENT DELETION. For F sake, are you new to Steam or something? 99.99% of items in your inventory can be turned into gems. It's functionally the same as deleting them and is unreversable. That's never caused any problems of any signficance. And why would a "malicious party" care about deleting your garbage, worthless items when they could be spending their time trading your entire inventory of tradable items to a different account and selling them? You need to eliminate trading and close down the Steam market if you're so worried about "malicious parties."

Functionally the same DOES NOT equal the same.

And don't get snippy with me for pointing out fact.

As to the "why would" excuse, no they actually DO this. Many of us have been on these forusm for years and we've seen people have ♥♥♥♥ like that done before, many times.

Some people just want to cause havoc. That's how it is. Not markedly different from ransomware or other sheisters.

Your ignorance of this does not make it wrong.

And regarding exploitation, you have it wrong again. You need to MITIGATE. I said nothing about closing it down. That's the point.

So you are in favor of getting rid of the Steam market entirely and eliminating all trading because you are such a ferocious crusader against "makicious" parties? Because if you don't think junk should be able to be deleted but you do think items should be able to be sold or traded, then you are just arguing for argument's sake and not trying to contribute anything useful.

Ah so now strawmanning me?

Since when does pointing out the flaws in your logic mean that equates to me supporting ANYTHING? Facts do not equal opinions.

Personally, I don't care - I take the default position.

If you can't be logical and offer contructive debate, I strongly suggest you go learn some basic critical thinking as it will help.

That's why Valve needs to put an option for users to send back those items. They can keep them

And that's why I never addressed that point.

You should have
I don't think you understand how discussions work.

They're called discussions for a reason. I can jump in or out as I see fit, and tackle only the points I wish, or even go off on a tangent somewhat.

BY making a ridiculous statement like "you should have tackled that" cuts both ways - I can now say "you should have factored that in yourself too and addressed MY point exactly plus any other possible points". You see hoe that works?

JUst to be clear I didn't tackle that point because .... I didn't wanna.

Simples, right.

Getting back to the original point. I SINCERELY AGREE.

Please give us a way to delete stickers. I saw on another forum just now that the sticker showcase in the points store has literally already been taken down so they're Completely Pointless now.

I have a Fall Guys sticker in my inventory that I can't trade, can't put on the market, can't turn into gems and basically can not get rid of. And like hell I'll spend 20 bucks on a game I don't want to delete a sticker I don't want. This is inventory purgatory and it's unfair to the users!

Seriously PLEASE give us a way to delete these nuisances!

There was never a points shop sticker showcase. You use the item showcase to show those stickers.

The sticker showcase you are referring to is the the Stickerbook from the 2017 Summer sale. That was removed because users put the stickers in compromising positions.

Oh fair, sorry for the confusion there then, thanks for clearing that up.

I would still like a way to delete stickers in general.

Here is a reddit post if you want to mess around with the stickerbook...

Thank you, you're very helpful to provide that.

Personally I don't have any interest in the stickerbook, I'm on Steam simply to enjoy playing games, I like getting achievements and badges sure but at the end of the day they're not a priority and the stickerbook is something I'm completely indifferent to at first glance and upon being more or less forced to participate or at least forced to keep the stickers I have anti-interest, minus interest, the absolute opposite of a desire to participate in it.

That's not on you though so thank you for attempting to help mitigate my frustrations with the situation.

Still an issue in 2024. Seriously can't be that hard to have a hide/unhide option.
