Screenshots properly rendered when playing an HDR enabled game

A lot of games now fully support HDR10. Unfortunately, when HDR is enabled, there is no way to get screenshots that are not greyed/washed out. Xbox GameBar built within Windows 10 allows to make proper screenshots, saving both HDR and sRGB files. Any chance to fix this issue in some next Steam builds? Thanks

A month old post but still relevant. Searched before posting my own so I thought I would just bump this. Using F12 to take a SS through steam results in a washed out picture. Using printscreen and pasting into MS paint works better even though the colors are too bright but it is something at least. Please Valve, improve the screenshots with HDR enabled!

HDR10 uses a different colour spectrum than JPEG (8-bit). There is currently no wide-spread or somewhat common format that supports floating point values and 10-16 bit depths.
And certainly not without storage space overhead.

TIFF is widespread for example but it's up to five times bigger than JPEG.
HEIC is up to half the size of JPEG but it's pretty much compatible to nothing.

HDR10 monitors are still an oddity, so don't expect the situation to change anytime soon. (And HDR has been around in cameras for way longer, btw).

it would be nice something similar to what Xbox Game Bar does: when a screenshot is made, Xbox Game Bar elaborate two files: a PNG with no HDR but properly rendered (no washed out) and a second file (i don't rember the format) with HDR.

I can also accept a single file without HDR but properly rendered.
