Sort games by date bought
This would be a really nice feature to have, there are are lots of other nice sort options now but none of them help me find the games I bought on the store in the last month or two.

Go to your account details and then go to 'View licenses and product key activations'. All the games you've acquired over time is there, sorted by date.

Note that if you take your entire library and sort by "recent activity" (click the clock button in the library function) it functionally shows a rolling window of games you've bought

Purchased games show as 'played' on the date of purchase. Obviously if you play a game it moves it 'up' the chain. But if you're jlooking for "games I bought in the past 2 months but haven't played" the recent activity filter will sort functionally by 'date of purchase' in a way.

Note this applies to not just games bought on steam, but also cd key registrations as well. All my humble bundle stuff is showing in the "recent" list

This is not far off, just needs a play now button with every game and store page links. Steam is really bad at linking anything, the whole site needs more links from everything to everything on every page kind of.

That’s not practical since a purchase of a bundle wouldn’t be linked to any single game and thus wouldn’t link to any game to install

I think this should absolutely be implemented, it could use the earliest activation date shown (recorded) on a games support page. Maybe it could be called activated or acquired since purchased/bought isn't technically accurate in certain cases. Whatever it's called I have wanted this as a sorting option for a while.

100% incorrect, the purchase of a bundle is linked to the games acquired when the bundle is bought, the date those games were bought is clearly known by steam.

Plenty of times I've seen in my friend activity stream when people have bought a mass of DLCs for a game and it was easy to guess they bought those as part of a bundle but steam had classified them in the activity stream as separate purchases

The point is a bundle could potentially contain dozens of games. If you buy the orange pack do you want 15 'install' buttons on the side. there are also separate types of bundles as well which again means its confusing to know what bundle type, what to show,

Ive got old bundles like "X super box" which contain all the X games or a very old "Sword of the Stars Franchise" bundle which contains SOTS 1 & 2 from 2012. they're not listed as individual games.

Besides its moot anyway

Just use teh "Recent Games" shelf, or sort your games by "recent activity" and you functionally get what you want

It's simple, if it's a game then show a play button.

Bundles arent games especially in the odl days

The "X super box" isnt a 'game'

Again you know Just use teh "Recent Games" shelf, or sort your games by "recent activity" and you functionally get what you want. There's already a solution

Not true because I've played a whole bunch of games since I bought some games so recent doesn't work, especially if I idle some games to get the card drops.

"X super box"
1. does it contain games?
2. do those games show up as seperate items on the library all-game list.
3. if so then it's a game, show it as a game with a play button.

Simple really.

It depends on the type of bundle/package, some are listed separately, some are listed as a singular entry on the licenses list, some examples are "X-COM Complete" and "BioShock Triple Pack". You are correct though that Steam does know the date every game was acquired and can be seen on a games support page.

It's really not the same, I do use and like sorting by recent activity, but being able to sort by activation/purchase date would be a good addition to the sorting options.
