Requesting a political discussion area
Steam discussions behavior guildelines currently bans 'Religious, political, and other “prone to huge arguments” threads' even in the off topic section apparently.

Although I will comply now that I know this, I would like to request a lifting of the ban on political discussion there, or maybe recommend that it be allowed at least in its own ghetto. Of course we don't want politics in the dicussion groups for games but why not give it its own rubber room? People like to talk about it.

Do you really want to discuss politics with the teenage mouth breathers of OT?
Sounds like something an edgy 15 year old would say…

We also have a forum for suggestions/ideas, but as can be seen here, people don't like to post in the correct section. I would have to assume the same for a politics forum.

You can always create a group for discussing politics as well or use other forums dedicated to politics.

By the way, moved to Suggestions/Ideas forum, from Off-Topic.

anyway the case to be made is that any discussion forum should have a release valve area where folks can take *all* their arguably constructive off topic stuff. also for some of us this is the only place we log in every day. lastly, most of the political web forums out there including reddit are really not as good as steam in terms of lively community.

But thats not the reality the fact is every discussion forum is run by people that set the rules there and that includes telling people "you can't do that here go to one of the millions of other places that allow you to instead"

honestly , it would only lead to issues , nothing else , theres many political views you can have , a politics forum is bound to lead to arguements that would go to far , honestly , i am more on the left side , and really hate the right partys in my country because they only do things for the rich and basically leave the poor to die , before everyone got some money for christmas automatically , now you would have to stand in a long queue outside infront of an office to ask for the money , obviously not all do it , maybe not all know ,and maybe not all think its worth catching a cold for. someone prefering right partys would most likely get into an arguement with me , and then what ? should that forum just be the zone without any moderation , or what, if someone starts going to far with insults or anything should they get banned for it , or should it be a no moderation zone which then no one is going to use , because there people would be doing things they know they cant get away with on other forums

its just best to keep politics away from a gaming forum

Constructive and politics don't go well together, unfortunately.

Perhaps that is due to not letting politics in it? :ghlol:
