I would prefer to have the option not to install a component for streaming that I do not use.
If so, I guess this would be another good reason to have a modular Steam client, with its features separately downloaded.
Yes, the answer comes from this thread. Indeed, a modular Steam client that gives the option to select which features to install is what I am suggesting in the original post.
Managed antivirus client and policies, unfortunately. =/
In this case it doesn't matter what you prefer. Steam isn't going to rework their client because a barely used anti virus software has a file flagged inappropriately. Anti Virus softwares make these mistakes all the time.
Well that's not really a Steam problem... sounds like you need to talk to the admin rather than expect Steam to engineer their application to cover your edge case or bypass the security you're under.
People who don't want a snakeoil that itself behaves like a malware?
I am making a suggestion that could improve the user experience of the Steam client.
Precisely because antivirus software makes these mistakes all the time, it would be good to have a modular client that allows you to select which features to install. It also could save disk space, memory, and run smoother than a monolithic client that has tons of features most people don't use.
