Achievements Should Be More Prominent
This really brings me back to the days where I knew nothing about Steam and only played Xbox 360, my favorite console of all time. One thing that I and everyone else (as far as I'm aware) liked about the console was the fact that achievements were there. They were something to grind for, something to boost your overall gamerscore.

Now, my suggestion pretty much lays on that. We should have a system similar to Microsoft's gamerscore - maybe even just a Steam Achievement Score or simply Achievement Score. Basically, assign every achievement a specific amount of points depending on how hard it is to get, then under the users' level on their profile, display a "X Achievement Score" (ex. 5,550 Achievement Score). You could even somehow incorporate your Steam Achievement Score into the user leveling system as that can only be done by card crafting and a few other (more minor) ways.

Make achievements more prominent on the profile - have a small bar under the bio showcasing the last 5 achievements with a link to all of the users' achievements categorized by game.

The reason I'm suggesting this is the fact that achievements brought a reason to grind in the games, a reason to hunt down any possible objective and overall play the game! Call of Duty had easter eggs and the hardest ones got you up to 100 gamerscore per achievement and becuase of it, everybody wanted to grind for it.

Of course this is just a basic suggestion at the moment but I hope this gives some insight to VALVe and puts achievement prominency somewhere on the priority list.

Scores for acheivements won't happen as long a SAM is around for those who like to cheat their way to the top.

won't happen, considering a user can unlock them all with 3 clicks of a button..

in all honesty, I would prefer the are removed entirely.. enjoying the game should be its own reward (as it was in the 90s), if you really need an "instant gratification pop-up" to feel good about acomplishing something in a game your doing it wrong imho

No. Use the search function for the dozens of threads explaining this"

And because of this thread I am reminded why it is a complete waste of time to even visit the Steam forums.

Your asking about something that is literally posted for weekly.

Great suggestion.

Frankly, it reminds me of the usefulness and inventiveness of certain Steam users.

All because of this unexplored idea. :DEALWITHIT:

Yeah. It's sad we suffer trash for achievements and skins when there's other better experiences to be had.

Steam should give us an option to hide achievements. So it's a win win for everyone

This is still not a reason to make achivements more rewarding

tbh i like achievements : i never finish a game with 100% achievements cuz it's boring ,but they tell me some fun game mechanics and easter eggs that i may miss (no one force you to complete all the achievements anyway)

I'd like to see a Steam Achievement Score feature, such as based on achievement rarity or something, but ONLY if it is optional in the sense that one can choose whether to display it on their profile.

The Achievement Showcase and Rarest Achievement Showcase is like a very rudimentary version of this idea.

I guess the problem with that (if you compare rarity per the Steam formula, and say astats way of calculating it) is Steam considers achievement rarity based on how many people own the game.

So my current "rarest" achievements are a bunch of relatively easy achievements in a game called BattleStorm, presumably because lots of people bought it in a pack/collection/bundle and never played it (or maybe just idled the cards if it has them, I don't remember), so all the achievements in it are "rare" according to Steam.
there will be many bad games that are made to give you a lot of achievements ,and ppl will buy them to get a better score
edit: sry ,the quote was wrong XD
