Stop allowing Steam to be used as a browser, to view pornography
I found a big security issue, on the Steam client. I found that, under certain conditions(read bellow), the Steam client can be used, to gain full access to the internet, like a browser. And thus allow its users, to view adult content.

While inside any Steam online game, players can use Shift+Tab, to open an ingame Steam game window right?. Well on this window, if you click for example "workshop", a Steam window will pop up. This Steam window, can be used to gain full access to the internet, and view adult content. All one needs to do, is erase the default game related adress, and type say.. google.com, and it will alow the user to go there, and browse the internet.

When you use Steam, to browse its products outside of the games, it is not possible, to use the Steam client, to browse anything else(which is good, and i am grateful for). My request is that this issue be fixed, and said window i pointed to above, be made blocked, and impossible to use as a browser, like the other Steam windows.

If this issue persists, i will have no choice, but to stop using Steam. Because i cant have an application, which allows itself to be used, to view adult content.

Thank you

It isn't really a security issue. It is a browser that can be used as a, well, a browser.

Then from Steam´s prespective its not a security issue, but from my prespective as a user, it is. Because i cant have an application, allowing adult content to be viewed on it.

Then you should stop right away. There's thousands of games and visual novels with adult content on Steam. You don't even need to use the browser to access porn sites, you can just play a porn game.

So full intercourse is just erotic? You clearly have a strange definition for porn then.

The Steam client is a giant browser, so nothing special there.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Well.. i have never seen anything like that on Steam. If its out there, then its small in number. BUT, if you are right, and Steam is indeed turning into a pornographic application, then you are indeed correct, that i shouldnt be here.. nor should anyone else whos human. Because pornography is a poison, for the mind and soul.

But in which case.. Steam needs to have a way, of either allowing their users to be able to play the offline games they paid for, WITHOUT the need for the thus pornographic Steam application. Or to give back people their money, for said games, they will no longer be able to play, without said pornographic application.

You paid for a license to access software (games in this case) according to the service it is on.

They don't need do either you mention.

Steam is a web browser based on Chromium.

You can open any website inside Steam Client without having to shift+tab inside a game.

If you don't like it then you're free to stop using Steam.

Sounds like a theft operation to me. The environment of Steam used to be one thing, and now its become another. I dont recall signing up to a pornographic application. I signed up to a gaming application, for humans.

And here I thought you didn't want pornographic stuff.

It is a gaming application.

You use a computer, that can also be used for pornography. How come you don't ditch that?

Account Details > Preferences > Store Content Preferences > Uncheck everything under the Mature Content category if you don't want to see such content.

The in-game browser subject is also not a "security" issue either. A security issue implies the threat of a data breach, which isn't the case.

And please, cut the holier-than-thou virtue signalling.
If your problem is with people being able to search for porn, then by your own logic, you shouldn't be using internet browsers either.
