need option to purchase "same" game multiple times
ye , buying same game multiple times for yourself , additionaly could add statistics of how many copies were sold. on store page.

as for record , under game time , adding a counter that increase by amount of copies purchased.

just to support games that are worth it.

You could always just use the permanent removal tool on the Help Desk page and re-buy the game on Steam Store.

Tested it once on a cheap game, and it works just fine.

Although, if the intent was to support the developer, I'd look into if there are alternative ways where the developer will get more of the profit directly.

Can this be done creating a new account?

Erm, sorry but I don't know what you mean?

Essentially you can utilize the permanent removal tool on the Help Desk page using both a limited and unlimited Steam account, both old and new.

What it does is disables the license, allowing you to re-purchase / re-redeem the game with the same or separate depots if you so desire, but the permanent removal can also be undone, so there's really nothing 'permanent' about it.

It will not affect CD-keys or anything beyond that scope though.

Why would you buy a game multiple times *for yourself*?

And public sales numbers will never happen because publishers are pretty tight lipped about their sales figures.

Like he points out in the opening post, it's his idea of supporting a developer he appreciates (as if publishers don't take a large cut), to which I pointed out that there's generally better ways to go about it.

And say said developer only sold the game on Steam Store, you can always gift the game to someone who wants it. That's a win-win, and more useful than buying said game for yourself again.

And no, I don't think this is a good suggestion.

It's better to buy a copy of that game as a gift to your friends.
Or if none of your friends want that game find a random person who want it and gift them that game.
You'll give more money to devs and make someone happy with that gift.

I got this, this is why I emphasized "for yourself". The developer does get more money - if self publishing or bonus based deal.
But the engagement stays the same.

As you said, buying for friends or even giving away the game would be so much better.

Buy the game for yourself, make a new throw away account and buy the game again for it and then just never log into that account. Go to legit 3rd party stores that sell the steam keys and buy a bunch of them and just throw them away. Wait for the game to show up on a legit bundle site that you can select to give all the money to the developers of the game and no one else and then put in what ever amount you want.

Or look for friends that want to buy the game. Join giveaway sites and give the game away to people.

Ask the developers in their discussion areas if they have some sort of donation box. Ask them in their discussion area to make a DLC that you can buy over and over again to show your support. (though I think this is the dumbest thing to do because it could easily backfire and make the devs look greedy and make it so that people don't want to buy their game.)

I seriously don't know why people ask to be able to give more to the devs without getting something in return. The devs set the price. your 50 bucks or 100 bucks or even 500 bucks more are not going to stop them from dropping support for the game and moving on to other stuff.

If you want to ask the devs how many games have sold, ask them, Valve will not put that information anywhere themselves, that information is usually only meant for Valve and the developer. That also doesn't count all the keys sold on 3rd party sites. Valve might know how many they made and how many were actually used, but they will never know how many have actually sold.

And you may in fact draw the recipients attention to the devs other works.

Yes, I too like owning multiple licenses for a digital game.
Well, if you want to support a game after buying it enough that you want to buy it again, maybe you should just mail a check to the developers.

I feel you're taking "Shut up and take my money" a little too literally.
