would that be a problem for you too ?
if it bothers you , you have to change it , not others
Go offline then. Your sensibilities wont be offended at all.
As said above you can easily customize it to say anything when you add a non-Steam game to Steam, so if someone on your friends list sees this they can easily annoy you with it.
All that being said I guess if it was optional I don't see why it couldn't be added if you really don't want to see those titles.
Forgot all about this.
You can literally name a text file anything, add it to your library as a non-steam game and all friends will see you playing "masturbating", for example.
so , i could name my skyward sword play session i will soon do on my old wii "peasantry session" by just naming a txt file that ?
So if there's anything on the internet that you personally dislike, you'll start going offline as well? That's fine if you would take your own words truly like that, but I think it'd be better for more people if there's at least something being done to please more users, without upsetting anyone else. Valve made their official statement on users being able to filter what they see and what they don't want to see in regards to porn games on the store, so I just want that option or something similar in Steam friendlists or the community, hence why I'm suggesting it.
Yeah, unmoderated user input will always be unmoderated user input. I'm not going to whine to Valve that there are profiles filled with porn (though unfair treatment/bans regarding that, or anything else, is something I would definitely whine about), or lewd names, or such. I'll dislike it but I wouldn't make it Valve's fault or something; it's that person's fault, not Valve's that it's there. However, these are games that *can* have something done about, since Valve allowed them into the store, they're tagged (mostly) accordingly so then users don't have to have their store cluttered with irrelevant stuff or stuff they dislike, but those games are still allowed to be announced and shown on the friendlist with absolutely nothing stopping them. I'd rather not, which is why I'm suggesting this. If an employee at Valve sees this, considers it and makes a change happen that would make both parties happy/[more okay] with it, why not?
Yeah. But as I said a bit upwards, user input isn't Valve's fault, and I'm not going to make it as such. But Valve-approved items being displayed on a Valve product are from then on, what Valve allows. I would like an option, if they were to see my post and consider it, for my request to happen. For myself as well as the others who it would bother, either now or later when porn games possibly become more prevalently used.
No, you have add a .exe file and add it as a "non-Steam game". You can then name it anything you want. People often do Notepad or such for that, which was why he mentioned a text file I believe.
But in short, to everyone annoyed at me for posting this, it's just a request towards Valve. I hope they would see it and consider it, maybe even make it a thing, but there's nothing else I'm going to do, nor anything else I'm able to do, than a simple request on my own, and perhaps others', behalf. I'm not going to the Steam discussions forum and whining needlessly that porn games are on Steam. I've expected that sort of thing to happen to all stores eventually for a while now, all I'm asking is for some added consistency which is a consistency based on having many optional features so the user/customer can customize it to make themselves happier with the product. I believe Linux works in a similar mindset for the end user; customize it the way you want. between the store and the friendlist/community features that would just be something nice to have.
Thank you for those who read this, and have a nice day.
