Notification When A Game is Added To Your Account From Developers.
Yeah most Devs give games to people that own the original . I have gotten a few games from DEVs doing this or giving a newer game or newer version, do to one we own. So with no word or notification most don't even know what was added. I don't mind a Email or a Popup , just some kind of Notification would be nice when something is added to my account that i didn't buy or add myself.

THX YOU!

Example?

As in EVOland 1 and 2 came out with both games in a newer updated version. Also some AAA reduxs came out and only way we know about them is 3rd party gaming news sites. Like when Skyrim Special Edition came out from Bethesda or like some of the reduxs from THQ Nordic . But indie games go 100% under the radar when they do this being its a Indie and their isnt much news about it.

So would be nice to receive some kind of Notification when they add something to your account that is not of you're doing as adding it yourself from Steam Store or adding a key to Steam from 3rd party retail.

Im pretty sure that's something the developers control.

Agree, i don't care from who. From either Steam or Devs / Publisher's would be nice to get some kind of notification when something is added to our accounts when its not our manual doing. Same goes for when DLCs are added also would be nice.

You would then have to contact the game developers, not valve.

No not really. They can set something up so they can do so . Valve works on the Dev /Publishers behalf. Valve can easily add a Email system or a popup when something is added to your account. All Dev and Publishers activities go threw the Steam system, so it shouldnt be hard to make a notification system of some sort. I mean most of steam is one big forum in a way. Think of it as how we get coupons ;)

Developers don't have control over the notification system. Or do you expect them to contact each and every user that owns their games?

You already get a notification when a game is removed from your account. You a get a notification when you received a gift.
But you don't get a notification when a free game is added to your account?

Agree ! cinedie ! We even get a notification when we take part of Alpha's / Beta's and the key is removed from our accounts after its over .. Witch freaks a lot of people out lol Being its a pop up that gets posted when you start steam or when the key was removed.

I'm not contesting that they shouldn't have a notification system, my point was that the developers would be in control of letting u know they have a new/alternate version of a game.

They do but only if you follow them or the news they post but once its added to your account there is no notification that it has been added ...witch should be one in place . Some of us have lots of games do to 3rd party sales , bundles , giveaways and so on and so on so its hard to keep track when something is put out and added to a account that we didn't install or buy directly.

Added games notifier please.
This is kinda a shot in the dark, since I highly doubt any staff actually read this forum.
But here goes anyway:

Over the last year or so i've had a few titles just get randomly added to my library for free because of some special offer or because I already owed a predecessor game. Which is great, i'm all for free games :) But I had no idea they were even added. They just get secreted into my games list with no notification of any kind.

Please add an optional pop-up dialog box or something that will appear informing you when new games are added to the library, that are not ones you have directly purchased. You already have this for gifted games. Why can't we do something similar for when free games get added because of a special offer or part of a free remastered release.

Thanks.

What is so wrong with this thread that you had to make a new one? https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/1798529872654099132/

Yeah ditto. There were relative posts yielded when I searched. Although funnily enough not that one. But it's something that is needed. And often multiple posts are a threshold for it being considered. That is if there's anyone reading them lul.

But yeah, sorely needed function.

There's also another (not that old) thread that could be merged into this one too:

(Suggests the idea that it could be made part of the alerts system. Which is also a good way of doing it.)

The game devs actually plastered those announcements all over Steam when they did that.
