Which tags would you recommend to the OP to filter out?
And I agree with OP. We need porn tag for those games which mainly focus on porn.
2. Depends on the specific games the OP is talking about. Need to know that to see the tags they have.
And here we get into the thorny issue of where to draw the line.
I don't want The Witcher 3 hidden because I excluded 'nudity' tag.
Or Dragon Ball FighterZ hidden because I excluded 'anime' tag.
But combining them is an awesome idea.
Granted, this is also the biggest issue with the tag system, troll taggers.. people will post "nudity" or "Sexual content" tags on things that are more tame than most Disney shows, just because it has an anime art style or has a female protag (very obvious with certain JRPGs)
That makes no sense. Porn games gets a pass but ooh god forbid a porn tag to recognize those games.
It is sad we but we cant trust both users and small indies studios to give honest tags. The system need to be rethinked. Users who are not against tasteful nudity or respectfull sexual content are flooded with hentai or pornographic games.
But once again who or what will decide the limit between a mature game and porn ? Is there a solution between allowing all or forbiding all ?
Unchecking Adult Only Sexual Content should remove "Porn" with out effecting such games.
The problem though, is what some define as "porn." Most posters complaining about it (from my experience so far) isn't really porn, but anime characters in scantly clad clothing, despite no actual nudity or porn involved.
And that will only work until someone mistakingly tags a game as "Primary Sexual Content", then the problem will be moved. Well, in this case, we could try to *remove* the bad tag, apparently it's done by clicking on + then reporting bad tags by clicking on a flag icon. But same, we need enough users to do this consistently.
Which comes back to the idea of Steam enforcing precise content tagging by developers, combined with content verification on submission (and as I said on my post linked above, developers would be wise to do this honestly so they can attract the proper audience and avoid having their game removed; and this is true for every type of content: horror, gore, etc.)
I only see law enforcement for the more general age rating and broader content categories for now, and even that is not fulfilled (e.g. PEGI should be mandatory in France even for digital stores). I hope law improves on this side *and* it will get followed. In the meantime, ithe responsibility is on Steam's shoulders (and our hypothetical tagger team's) to do the right thing.
