Change Steam web browser engine to WebKit(one process) back.
It's makes Steam use less CPU and get rid of steamwebhelper.exe, making Steam run on old and new PCs faster.

When they said (way back in 2010) that they were switching to a "a WebKit based rendering engine" they meant they were switching to Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). They're still using CEF today.

CEF before version 27 is based on WebKit. But after version 27, CEF is now uses Blink.
This is why steamwebhelper.exe was born.

WebKit is browser engine.

Before August 2014 update, Steam used WebKit browser engine, but after this update, it's now uses CEF v27+(Blink) browser engine.

Blink is a Webkit fork; it's not like they suddenly switched to a different engine, they just started evolving their copy of WebKit independently of what Apple is doing.

The webhelper exe appeared because CEF adopted Chrome's multiprocess sandboxing, which Chrome itself has used basically since the beginning. The main WebKit-using browser these days, Safari, has also gone to the multiprocess model.

But multiprocess model sucks.

Literally all the people who make browsers disagree with you.

Steam before August 2014 update, WebKit browser engine was intergrated in SteamService.exe or Steam.exe process(i don't know), which means less RAM usage.

But i like Steam versions before horrible August 2014 update, because of UI design style.

Late 2013-July 2014 is era of Surgeon Simulator and Papers, Please, a.k.a. old design era.

After August 2014, Five Nights at Freddy's era was come, a.k.a. new design era.

Did you know that 99.5 % of all violent crimes in the western hemishphere where committed within 24 hours of eating bread?

Not going to happen as doing so disables much of Chromium's security protections.
