Today when logging in I noticed the persistent notification of a friend request said "person has added you to his or her friend list."

I feel as though this type of wording is absolutely uneccessary and could easily be amended to become more inclusive for all walks of life by simply saying

"person has added you to their friend list."

at end of it this is something that a very small, statistically insignificant, percentage of the population wants.
its perfectly reasonable to demand that everyone treat everyone else fair and not discriminate or show prejudice.
its very unreasonable to expect the rest of the population to change 10s of 1000s of years of language usage.
as you admit, this isnt going to collapse or save civilization. its a tempest in a teapot.

That's the whole point:
it's not some "SJW forced" change. It's a more elegant replacement for a clunky phrase that also happens to me inclusive.

I can get really defensive about language and the usage of bulletpoints, asterisks and capital letters within a word. But this isn't.

In Germany we have a real problem with "gender fair" language that leads to sentences like

Der Arzt/die Ärztin ist berechtigt die Daten eines Patienten/einer Patienten an seinen/ihren Stellvertreter/Stellvertreterin zu übergeben, solange es im Interesse der Behandlung des Patienten/der Patientin liegt.

or a gender neutral

It's not about replacing one word with another for the sake of it like in English you are now supposed to call a waitress "server". Which is the same exact issue and over time we will develop a word like "serveress" to determine a female worker.
Or demanding the usage of Germxn because it happens to end int "man". Yes, real world example.

It's not foruth generation feminsim gone mad. It's not identity politics. It's a very simple change according to existent grammatical rules.

Those defintions were taken directly from the Oxford English dictionary.

The oddity is that each defintion is worded differently on sites so which one is correct?

More importantly your preference for the use of a particular word does not extend to anyone else.

You may also want to read the examples I provided for the UK rather than believe we all need to conform to your defintion of word usage.

In the city where I live children go to shops to buy sweets, in a town 30 minutes away children go to shops to buy chows or are you going to correct me on this also.

I would love to see your dazed face when you get to Liverpool and realise that Liverpudlian accents are so very different in the same city.

Your may want to correct your own flawed assumptions. In the UK there are waiters and waitresses.

I am stating that the UK is very diverse and even I am thrown off by words when visiting another city, town village. What I never do is correct amyone because I use a different word, I ask "what is chows".

Sup. You started a huge argument in a thread that I had posted in ages ago.

Frankly speaking, I have no dog in this particular fight, which is why I had only two posts here, one of which facetiously suggests that Steam make everyone equally unhappy by using a new singular gender-neutral pronoun that I personally like but no one else uses.

Why must I be called they/them,their when I clearly am none of the above, I prefer IT and honestly the 12.7mm Gatling between my legs can prove that AND take all of you out.

Steam needs to allow me this option and use neither genital based NOR gender neutral options!
