Not going to happen because achievements are easily cheated with 3rd party program and no Valve can not stop it because unlike the Xbox and Playstation systems (which have also had their achievements cheated/hacked by people) the PC is not a closed system so makes it much easier to cheat the achievement system.
Oh that too, you're right.
So what? The suggestion isn't to tie it to some sort of reward. As many other suggested already you can just make another score or level or whatever that is not tied to the current level system.
Sometimes I get the feeling some people just repost the same drivel without ever reading the OP.
And yet... people are asking for more crap that comes with achievements. No, please no. Instead remove achievements altogether.
agreed
I don't see the point in achievements, but it's a genuine way of playing for many people.
The thing about achievements is that if you are not interested in them... you don't have to try to get them. Some people enjoy hunting for them, the harder the better kind of thing. Some people don't care about the achievements. Personally I could not care less about them.
How about instead of asking for them to be removed, you ask for a way to just turn off the achievement announcement in steam. It won't turn them off in game because thats up to the developer to handle that, but at least it would not see the steam pop up and it would still let people who like these games with 5000+ achievements in them to keep playing them.
Achievements help me realize what I could achieve. Some things are hilarious, some are just really cool things that I would've missed.
What harm could there be in updating the leveling system to reflect how much a player has taken the time to complete a game? I say none.
You are totally ignoring the programs out there that can instantly unlock every single achievement for every single game you own in literally seconds.
Thats the harm it would do to the leveling system. Imagine having 1000 more 1 dollar games popup each month all with 5000 achievements in each one. 10 bucks gets you 10 of these games and 50,000 achievements. If each one is worth 1xp, well there is 50,000 more XPs. Lets put in another 10 bucks to buy 10 more of them oh hey there is another 50,000 XP.... guess I don't have to buy any cards anymore, buying dumb games that I will never play gets me far more XP.
Are they not the same thing?
Achievements & Trophies are just named different,
but seem to me that they are pretty much the same...
I actually like how UPlay or was it EA Games did it...
They just started to Award people for gaining levels
on their Profile Accounts...
If I remember right, you gain Currency for the Shop,
after you level Up, or something...
I really like that idea... & you also get currency when
you buy the Games, too...
It is something like that, I can't remember exactly,
but they reward you in some way shape or form...
PSN Had at one point allowed people to showcase
their Trophies in a "Trophy Lounge Room" which I
thought was kind of cool...
I guess it's a Room where you can visit, & walk around
looking at all your Trophies on the Wall...
STEAM is so behind the Times...
