Please remove the auto-play streams from Store pages!
As a member of a website building team, I can say that auto-play videos/streams drastically degrade a page! Beside being annoying by having to click stop, they use internet bandwidth, something that's limited for anyone that's not in a major city.

I, and several (many) others are victims to a bug. Whenever a YouTube video, or stream starts playing, the whole Steam client freezes! I'm not asking for help about that right here, as that's a different discussion, but it's another reason I don't like the auto-play. It freezes my client, just by going to certain Store pages.

Here's an example of a store page that had a stream going yesterday:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/300260/Planetoid_Pioneers/

Again, it would be very annoying needing to stop the stream any time I visit a store page. (If it wouldn't just outright freeze my client)

TL;DR - I h8 auto-play vidz 'n strimz

Thanks for taking this in to consideration!

There should be a link to disable it. Otherwise it's in your store preferences at the bottom.

Feature already exists. Under account settings. Last checkbox on the page 'Hide all Live Boradcasts'

Where? The only checkbox I see under Account settings is "Don't save account credentials on this computer".
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You jut have to love Steam's UI philosophy. "Hide important stuff where no one will find it and never tell anyone we added such an option".

Yeah, makes no sense!!

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if they added it after my OP, as well.

My client also freezes when going to pages with (I assume) live Twitch streams.

Those? Maybe.

More than likely, store pages with GIFs strewn about the page. They can lock up the client like nothing else.

Happened just now trying to watch the Sudden Strike live twitch stream -> frozen, with a pretty "new cursor" looking like this: https://i.imgur.com/XoNztnV.jpg .

Does clearing your Steam Web Cache resolve the issue?

After clearing the web cache and until restarting the client, I was able see the twitch stream...

After a client restart, the problem came back - notice what the link is pointing at (main store page) and what the content is (frozen at Sudden Strike 4)

Clearing the cache or killing steamwebhelper.exe is the only way to fix it, and even that is only to unfreeze it in that moment. There's another discussion that was started back in 2015(!!!!!!), and there's no permanent fix!

EDIT: Here's a link to the other discussion. There's probably some people at Valve that are sitting at their desks, laughing about the mounds of cash they have, completely ignoring the 1000+ comments about this! https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/490123938427369104/
