2 weeks for a refund?
Currently you cannot get a refund if the purchase was more than 2 weeks old. Please consider changing this policy by extending the time.

I often buy a lot of games all once, often during a sale. I almost never get around to trying them all out within the first 2 weeks of purchase. Sometimes, by the time I get around to trying out a new game, I discover some issue that would normally qualify for a refund, but since it's been more than 2 weeks I am just SOL.

Sometimes the Steam Sales will convince me to buy a game that I never considered buying, or have no immediately interest in playing, but because it's such a great deal or advertised well or I'm just feeling impulsive... I'll buy it and "shelf it", figuring I'll get around to playing it some day so might as well buy it now. Steam has my money, I have my future game, we are both happy.

This policy has forced me to think really hard about buying games on sale now. I have to really be committed to getting into them within 2 weeks now. I've bought 20 or 30 games at a time before, usually during a sale. It's unreasonable to expect us to try out each one within 14 days.

And if we discover a game breaking bug, or there's issues with installation, or the game just wasn't what we thought it was, we're SOL.

My refund recently got denied for a game that was purchased 3 weeks prior and had less than 5 minutes played on it. The game was purchased with several others during the last sale.

Please consider extending the 2 week refund policy, it's too short a time to try out every game if we've purchased a lot at once.

Refunds are not to test games out. If you use it like that you won't be able to refund any games at all.

Research the games before you buy them so this doesn't happen.

Don’t buy that many games then. You can’t expect steam to hold onto your money indefinitely.

They no longer have your money. They paid most of it to the devs/publishers of the games you bought. They can't just hold onto it forever. Any refunds from that point would have to come out of their own pocket, at a loss.

Good Ideea:steammocking:
Changing your purchasing habits makes more sense than changing the refund policy
Why do you keep buying so many games if you dont even try them?

Seems counter intuitive a bit

I cannot believe what I am reading here. :steamfacepalm:

What is "unreasonable" is for you to think you can just buy a bunch of games and get around to playing them when you feel like it, and then refund them if you don't like them.

That is not how the refund system works. And you are actually abusing it, by doing this.

Keep it up, and they may take away your ability to refund games permanently.

Oh, and this has been "suggested" over and over and over here.

If you have come here to propose a suggestion for the Steam client, whether it be a new feature or an improvement of an existing one, you have come to the right place. Please consider searching before posting, as your suggestion may have already been brought up before.

Seems like there is a new thread about refund time limits here very often.

Do you get around to playing and finishing them all before the next sale? If not, why buy them now?

Ever since I stopped buying far more games than I have time to play, these problems completely disappeared.

Researching games for what they are and knowing what you want is key. You can't and don't need to just collect every -75% game in existence .

Consider I can NOT request a refund for an item I've bought more than two weeks ago IRL.

question in response to this... (though I fully think that the OP's request is laughable), whats your suggestion if there is not enough information out there about the game? Alot of the games I play are very niche, so what happens in the case of a game that has such a small forum community that there's like a total of 6 thread made on the game's forums, and the amount of reviews on Steam that matches that scope of awareness, and nobody has reviewed the game on YouTube(and therefore all you can find is trailers and the like)? There have been some instances where I run into a game like that.

Whats your suggestion then to see if the game is functional? I can make a guess on whether or not I might like a game based off trailers and raw gameplay(ie. a 10 minute snippet), but that doesn't tell me how well the game runs(if at all) on PC, or if the game has other technical issues?

I buy 20-50 games each sale. I start the games up to see if they start ok and controlschematics is as i think. If not i check the game hub for clues if there are any and i try them. If they work i put the game in backlog, if not i refund the game.
I don't have to know if i will like them, since i already checked the games out if they are to my liking. So longer time is not necessary if you take the necesary steps to check they work.
There is no need for longer time then the existing 2h/2weeks.

So everyone saying to "just buy less games" is right I guess. I will buy less games. I'm sure that will make Steam happy too.

If that is all you take away from what we have said, then you did not read what we said, or you are just making an inflamatory statement sarcastically.

What I am saying is, that if you continue with how you are using the refund system, they can remove that ability from your account permanently.

Do proper research and then buy games and play them within the two weeks. Otherwise, you fall outside the refund time limit and don't qualify.

Simple as that. Your booked schedule that is so full as to where you don't have time to play the games untill after that two weeks is not thier problem.
