Show last 4 digits of card numbers and phone numbers
To Steam : When I purchase an item from the Steam store, on the payment screen it shows me only the last 2 digits of my card number. Well, I have 2 cards with the same last 2 digits! Everyone else shows the last 4 digits. Please can you display the last 4 digits for remembered card numbers?

Same applies to phone numbers - it only shows the last 2 digits and ought to really show 4.

the last 4 digigs of the card are often used as a security or authorization measure. showing all 4 means someone looking at your receipt has more infomration they can use about you to potentially impersonate you

That's nonsensical. All the till receipts and invoices in the UK show the last 4 digits. So I'm just expected to guess which of the cards that ends in the same last 2 digits it is I want to use?

You’re expected to know which card it is off the top of your head. Go back through your bank statements until you find your last Steam purchase.

Lol. Now, can we have a serious official response from Steam? :-)

Steam is an application.
Valve staff very rarely post in this section.

You would be better off raising the issue with support or requesting a new card from your bank so the numbers change on that card.

Support will only give you what is visibly to you on your account, which is the last 2 numbers.

However, are they cards issued by a different company? Like Mastercard and Visa?

Why not just check your bank account online. That will show you the transaction history for any card you have and tell you whenm, where, and how much money was taken and by whom.

You can even call the credit card company.

Sounds like everyone is missing the point. Yes of course I can check my bank account, but it is standard in most of the online world to display the last 4 digits, not 2. Even the last 4 digits on the phone number is pretty standard.

Sometimes people here are stubborn like hell, for that kind of questio ask valve support, usually they reply for what you ask and not some other ways that you don't ask for.

Support cannot help you with this. They are *support* not a suggestions box. The only answer you'll gt from them regarding something like this is to post in this very forum.

That I have to disagree on. Four digits is almost the entire number already given that there are very few mobile prefixes. If another *cough* mishap *cough* like the caching episode happens and you have a social media presence that can be easily linked with your gaming persona, you open people up to whole new scam methods. Imagine the "prove your items are not duplicated"-scam with an "admin" on the phone.

I'm always amazed how willing people are to give up security for the sake of a insignificant amount of convenience.

OP - Just link one of the cards to paypal and use paypal when you want to use that particular card. Problem over.

OK, I give up.
