Give us the ability to make the "subscribe to profile comments" friends-only.

I already never saw the point of this idea Steam gave us some time ago already. From what I noticed with recent events it is simply yet another way to easily stalk Steam profiles you aren't friends with... Would be nice to make it so you can decide who can subscribe to your comments to be honest, since even non-friends get notified if they leave a comment on someone's profile they don't know if it gets answered pretty quick.

um... just make your profile friends only, there's no reason to make it so people can't subscribe to your feed.

I shouldn't be forced to switch to friends-only just because Steam implemented an idea no one even asked for to begin with.

I don't think you understood what I meant, so your message is pretty confusing to me. I don't want people I don't even know to be notified whenever I get a comment on my own profile because they can't keep their nose in their own business. Since that wasn't even a thing until this silly idea came out I feel you should be able to control at least who can be notified by every comment you receive, just like you can decide who can comment.

And yes, it does seem pretty fair since it is my profile anyway. Why should I not be able to do what I want on my own profile as long as I don't break any community rules?

i think there is a better solution, just make it so anyone you've blocked views your profile as a private profile. that's enough cherry picking. i subscribe to lots of peoples comment feeds for various reasons, if you don't want it public, make your profile friends only.

You can make the profile messages friends only, which is what it seems you are asking for. You don't need to make your entire profile friends only.

Edit your profile, click on "My privacy settings" go down to "Comment Permissions" and click on friends only.

As far as I know that sets it so that only friends can select that little box to get notifications when someone comments on it and its only friends that can comment on it.

So I'm pretty sure what you want already exists. Check my profile to see if its like that, I have mine set to friends only so you should not be able to see the check box that lets you see when there is a new message.

Hmm thats just strange, you would think if its set to friends only that you would not be able to subscribe to it if you are not a friend.

So I would be ok with a change like that. If that is set to friends only, that people can not subscribe to it and anyone who is currently subscribed and is not a friends and anyone who is blocked has it automatically unsubscribed.
