Installer Free Space Indications
As a user with multiple hard drives, when installing a new game i find myself every time returning to the Windows Explorer window to see how much space my drives have free as it is quicker than selecting each drive in the list individually to check.

Would it be possible to either, list a drive's free space next it on the itemized list, or if you have >x number of drives show a grid of the drives on the selection window with each drive's free space?

You can always check the "Steam Library Folders" in the Steam > Settings > Downloads page. It lists all the free space on them.

While true that is even more navigation than opening windows explorer, and therefore more hassle. The objective of a user interface is to make it easier to do something without third party help (WinEx) or having to make 6 clicks to check a single value. My thought is something like what follows could be available.

Just by clicking the drive you want there would show you the disk space left on it. Adding it to the dropdown menu seems redundant.

Aight look, you may only have one or two drives but i've got 6 drives in my local machine, and 4 on a network server. That is a lot of clicking. I'm simply putting an idea out there that would be a great quality of life improvement to those with a lot of drives.

I have 8 for Steam and 17 in total. Even just clicking on the file explorer in my taskbar will show me everything in 1 click which would be faster than your addition.

I'm gonna put it like this. This is a suggestion and idea thread. You are trying to troubleshoot it like I have a problem. You aren't adding anything to this thread and with your last comment it has become a competition / judgement thread which is not helpful in the least. I have put my suggestion out there and if the devs like it and think it useful they can / will put it in, if they don't they won't.

To save my own time this will be my last response to you.

As the OP doesn't seem to want a discussion, I'll just lock this up.

On another note: cSg|mc-Hotsauce was simply replying to your own statement about how many drives you have, to show that he does understand what it is like to have that many drives. cSg|mc-Hotsauce was also suggesting a better way to go about it as well, one of the things that this forum is for.

You are free to make suggestions/ideas, just as others are free to counter them or point out issues. All of that is for discussing suggestions and ideas.
