People should be able to turn off the broadcasting of it, along with turn it off so that they don't have to see it.
I would like to see it under the game/online status but if there isn't that much room as said above then adding a small icon ether a headphone or a
And if this type of thing would be added only allow bought music on the Steam store be used as you can customize imported music with whatever names like scam sites or something inappropriate.

I don't care what music you like
Also, do people actually use Steam music player?
I don't, I prefer Winamp.
Winamp? Is it the 90s still?
Can't even remember the last time it had an update - thought Nullsoft gave it up years ago.
The one I have is from 2012, but the beta for the latest version, 5.8 is up on winamp.com, and their forums seem to be active. I use such an old version because it does what I need and I can pretty much just move the folder with it in it to a new system anytime I want.
But I'm an odd person, I still do have software that I am using from 1998 that still works perfectly fine on current hardware. I still use it because I haven't found anything better since. Same reason why I still use winamp, I haven't come across anything that does what I want better than winamp. Using steam music player would actually remove one of the features I like the most, being able to just move the winamp folder when ever and where ever I want with no need to keep an installer around.
No one is telling you to use the Steam music player, nor am I trying to convert you from your beloved Winamp. I'm just suggesting something that can potentially give people more reason to use the Steam music player.
OR it could also give people more reason to not use it. There are 2 sides of the coin. Its more bloatware that doesn't actually make the software better. Its just a way to "show off".
If people don't want to use it, they don't have to - end of.
