Steam Cryptocurrency
Hello, i have an opinion about the payment method on steam to buy game or in-game purchase.
Actually, this years is a rise and rise of cryptocurrencies, maybe it will be a good news for everyone in steam community if the payment for steam is using cryptocurrency, so why dont Steam make their own cryptocurrency to make payment easier, lower fees, and be more simple than using “old style” in payment method.
So there will be no price differences because there is so much 3rd parties that cost different fees on depositing steam wallet. I hope you can make it happen to make the payment easier than before and there will be more customer that can deposit on steam wallet, increasing the demand on buying games or in-game purchase in Steam.

Edit: Just read that valve not accepting bitcoin, so thats why i suggest you to make your own(Steam). Because the price of bitcoin is high enough, it what causing the fees were going to high too, You can make a token and use ETH network or maybe you can make your own blockchain.

Thanks for everyone who read this, if you guys interested with this suggestion, just comment below and show your support.

Valve is not going to join in on something like that.

if you would look at the blog that was posted, it says right there "due to high fees and volatility..."

So Valve should use their own money to backup a crypto that radnom users can mine and use to give them back their money?
That's what I call a sound business proposition.

Currently cryptocurrencies are volitile and in a bubble due to wall street's sudden interest in speculating crypto. ATM, none of them have tangible value. Unlike government issued currencies, accepting crypto for trade and debt is voluntary and without widespread voluntary or forced adoption of crypto as a legitimate as legal tender for all debts, as real currency is, it will remain an intangible pseudo-currency that's only good for speculation. As long as that condition remains, the currency is ultimately useless and the bubble will pop HARD. Anyone getting in to crypto now is going to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sooner than later.

Unfortnately, it won't see widespread adoption for trade and debt payment unless it's stable. The volitility won't stabalize unless there's widespread adotpion for trade and debt payment. It's a situation that just can't solve itself without some sort of government backing the currency to force adoption, and that's just not going to happen. Until then, wall street will blow up the crypto bubble and ride it for as much as it's worth and abandon it before it pops. Anyone else who hopped in to the bubble thinking they're going to get rich is going to end up screwed.

You say that, yet provided no reason as to how this is easier. Do you not realize if Valve creates it's own crypto currency, that it will only be good in steam? Steam gets "money" (crypto) for games ppl buy, how will valve distribute that money to developers and publishers? Not to mention their very own employee salaries, I am more than certain they dont want crypto currency as pay. Is valve going to somehow magically generate real-world currency for what they receive in their own crypto currency?

I agree with this entirely. The time to make money with bitcoin is long gone. Personally I wouldn`t touch crypto`s with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stick unless they do stabilize and become widely adopted, which is unlikely in the long run.

At this point anyone can start a cryptocurrency. The problem is that they're all inherently intangible without some government or institution enforcing it's acceptance as legal tender. The value of any given crypto is inevitably intertwined with how interested investors are with just shuffling it about the market. The only market that's committed to adopting crypto is the deep web drug trade, ffs! The crypto bubble is just unsustainable without giving these currencies some tangible real world value. ATM it's just a mechanism for savvy investors to make a run on some naive millennials who bought in to the hype.

Valve has a crypto-currency already.
It's called Steam Wallet.
You can use it to purchase games as well as items on the Steam market. You can get your Steam Wallet money at an exchange rate of roughly 1:1 to your local national currency.

Seems like your wish has already been fulfilled.

The wallet is nothing like a crypto currency.
