Bundle discounts even when NOT ON SALE!!
As an introduction, let us all agree that we all love STEAM SALES!

There is no other place that could match Steam Sales period. Their sales, especially the major ones (Winter, Autumn, Black Friday) kills every other competitor out there offering the same games.

But here's the thing:

On a normal basis, there are many games out there which are pumped full of DLC's or expansions. These things are becoming a trend for years now.

Now on sale these are good finds as most of them you can buy at a significantly lower price, usually at 40% off for a BUNDLE which is a very, very good thing.

The problem herein is this: when not on sale the BUNDLE PRICES are simply additions of the original prices. I think and suggest that at the very least when buying bundles there must be a discount even when not on an official sale. I mean, I'm buying a BUNDLE! When you go to a local store or a department store there are always discounts when buying on a BUNDLE BASIS, they even pack it up as a bundle beforehand on an everyday basis with a discount.

It doesn't have to be a very significant discount, it doesn't have to match discounts offered on major sales. But when you are buying things on a bundle, everyone expects a discount. Makes sense right?

Already exists, but it's up to the game's publisher to decide to do it that way or not.

I think Steam could force developers to UNIVERSALLY discount bundles even when not on an official sale. Steam is, after all, the most sought out gaming store in the whole world.

And then you have developers going to other online game stores where they are not forced to do stuff like that.

So no, its a bad idea. Just because most of the developers come to Steam now doesn't mean with a few bad ideas, they can't start going to other places.

I could say the same thing to the developers. And AGAIN, the discount doesn't have to match the discount rates on official sales, heck, it could be at least 10% off the total price. NO BIG DEAL.

AND NO!!! HELL NO! It is not a bad idea. In fact, I THINK IT COULD EVEN LEAD TO WAY MORE SALES TO WHICH THE DEVELOPERS could profit even more.

Also, Developers aren't going to another online site just to ditch steam. THAT IS AN IMPOSSIBILITY. IT WOULD TAKE A MIRACLE OF DISASTROUS PROPORTIONS FOR DEVELOPERS TO EVEN THINK OF DITCHING STEAM.

Steam has been here for a long time, and has built a reputation so well that if you are a game developer, the VERY FIRST PLACE you could even think of to put a game for sale is on Steam.

If current developers don't have steamworks mixed into their games, which would make it hard for them to move if they did, then its simple enough to move, wait till the contract they signed is over and move their game to some other platform. Or any future games they make, will be for another online distributor. Its not as hard as you think.

The biggest danger is all future developers not coming to steam. When they find out they are being forced to do stuff that they don't want to do, they will at the very least rethink about going to steam and further checkout other places, if those other places offer almost as much, as much, or more then steam and don't force them to do what you are suggesting, they will go there.

Developers are the ones who decide how much to put their stuff on sale for. Developers are the ones who decide how much to discount it for.

If Valve starts saying "you must discount it this much" developers are going to say "you must kiss our butts as we go somewhere else".

And while the other places are not as filled as what Steam is, the reason why Steam has so many developers is because its been very developer friendly.

So YES forcing developers to do something against their will, will cause them to go to other places.

That's the thing, if developers are the ones determining how much a discount rate is for a BUNDLE OF A GAME. and let me repeat. A BUNDLE OF A GAME.

Then they should. I'm not saying that Steam or Valve or GMG or whatever online store there is on the world say to the developers "discount this much" and "do something against their will". NO! HELL NO! YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT! TOO FAR!

My point is that BUNDLE GAMES. BUNDLE GAMES..... BUNDLE... GAMES..... GAMES ON A BUNDLE..

MUST BE DISCOUNTED for how-much-ever they want it to be. EVEN WHEN NOT ON AN OFFICIAL SALE!!!

Steam could be developer friendly for all its worth. But it also could be CONSUMER-FRIENDLY which is the most logical, practical and wisest thing.

I don't have the numbers but it wouldn't take anyone to notice that when Steam is on a major sale, the developer's profits spikes on a double, or even a triple basis. Now, when a sale is over, THERE IS STILL DEMAND FOR GAMES. It's not going anywhere!!! Which THE DEVELOPERS COULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF by discounting bundle games.

Is it not so easy as a point to think of?

And also, LET US NOT MAKE SUCH RIDICULOUS STATEMENTS AND NOTIONS such as developers would be too on edge if they discount their bundles.

Let me remind here everyone that when buying on steam, they receive what? STEAM KEYS. They're NOT physical copies of the game. They're NOT limited in any way. THEY COULD MAKE BILLIONS OF THEM FOR ALL WE CARE!

It is NOT demanding of us consumers to for a discount on a bundle of a game on a DIGITAL FORMAT. NO. NOT NOW. NOT EVER.

There limited on how many users will buy them
lets say there 1000 gamers that want to play it
the max you going to sell is 1000
so there is a limit
Scarecrow Dec 6, 2016 @ 1:23am
Okay. So what do you think is the limit realistically speaking?

THEY STILL NUMBER IN THE MILLIONS! MAYBE BILLIONS!!!

NOT TO MENTION NEW USERS WHOSE MARKET IS YET TO BE EXPLOITED!

Also, do not go LIMITING AND ARGUING A LINE OVER A MAJOR POINT which is the discounts on a BUNDLE GAME.

So.. maybe developers are better off not doing bunles?

Bundles just mean you get a group of games in a pack
there is no need for any type of deal on that
Same asthere is no sale on buying 2 or more games from the same dev

Its just a pack they made, some times make it more comftrble to buy foucing to have a deal on that is not really something with a reason

When you buy it in the pysical store they bundle games they want to get rid of, or one they want to get rid off with something that buyers may want

the idea is to get rid of stock, not to give you a better deal

First of all, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT GAMES SOLD ON STEAM.

ON DIGITAL FORMAT. Which means there's a limitless stock. That's just it. PERIOD.

No need for a type of deal on a bundle? WHY DO YOU THINK THERE'S BUNDLES IN THE FIRST PLACE?!!!

I just don't get your argument. No matter what it is. It's pointless. Just read our past arguments above and you'll likely find your answer.

First can you stop with the caps/shoting?
if you want to mark something use the formating with b and u

Second i read it and let me point few holes there
its limitless, as said its not, you have a limited market in the end
if i sold something to a user for 10% off there not going to buy it again for full price, so you lose 10% on the sale.. forever

You say it will get more sales? well lets drop all prices 90% off, will get so much more sales.... but not as much profit right?
what you as a Publisher/Dev want is more profit not more sales

Abut the limitless its not a + for you its a -
Steam has limitless invetory but also limitless self space, there is no hurry to sale these games, unlike the stores with real shelfs and limit space

Something been in a pack means nothing, if i put 10 games in my cart i got a pack of 10 games in my cart, so i need to get a sale?

Again packs is just a packge the dev sets, it has no meaning, you want to fouce to have sales on them? so why will a dev mke a pack he will have to lose on? better not make one at all

and just 10% is not that little if you look at some of the packs out there look at the hugepacks out there (cant link in mobile apps)

I read it
And it seem like your answer is basicly
Its a bundle it needs to be cheaper

that may be your opinon but it dose not stand to reality
bundles are not defined to be cheaper
and there is no reason for them to be on a store with limitless space

also i reply to some of your answers before refering me to what i reply on dose not advance anything

TL:DR you did not answer to my hles before

Let me, point out a "FEW LARGE HOLES IN YOUR STATEMENTS"

Losing 10% of a sale - THAT IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I COULD'VE READ IN THIS THREAD. THEY ARE SELLING STEAM KEYS!!!! STEAM KEYS!!!! STTEEEAAAAMMM KKKEEEYYYS!!!!

As I wrote above, THEY'RE DIGITAL COPIES OF THE GAME!!! AND DO NOT MOCK OR STOP ME WITH THE LIMIT THING.. THEY ARE NOT... THERE ARE STILL SO MUCH MARKET THAT THEY KNOW THEY CAN EXPLOIT HENCE, THEY ARE LIMITLESS FOR ALL WE CARE!!! PERIOD. THAT IS THE END OF THAT. PERIOD.

90% - When have you seen a bundle on a 90% off? DO NOT BE RIDICULOUS BY INVENTING SOMETHING WITH YOUR CRUDE IMAGINATION WITH SOMETHING WHICH HAS NOT EXISTED!!! THAT IS BLASPHEMY!!!

I agree with you saying there is no hurry to put games up for sale but a cut ON A BUNDLE.. ON A BUNN..DELL.... BUNDLED GAME... GAMES WITH ITS OWN DLC'S FOR A PRICE CUT...

WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT RANDOM GAMES YOU PICKED ON YOUR CART AND YOU WANTING A DISCOUNT.. HELL NO!!!

We are talking about Bundled games.. Mainly, a Game and its own DLC's for a little price cut WHEN NOT ON OFFICIAL SALE!!!! AND I TELL YOU, IN DIGITAL FORMAT? LIKE HELL IT WILL HURT A DEVELOPER!!

IT IS FOLLY.. IT IS RIDICULOUS... IT IS BLASPHEMOUS... To defend a profiting developer in terms of bundled games.. it just is...
