...nowhere do I see input requirements... Where do you see anything about input?
In all honesty there are very very few PC games that do not support some form of keyboard and /or mouse controls. Designing a game for PC game that doesn't would be like designing a console game that requires a k&B instead of a controller.
I use keyboard+trackball. Haven't used a mouse in decades..since early 90's. Initially was a desk space concern with a little hand-learning curve, then a matter of precision, now it's the most comfortable/ergonomic for me.
It can be done XBL; you can design games using controllers @ Collins College.
Can it be done? Yes. Do I? Partially. I use a cheapo keyboard & logitech trackball for input. My olde hands cannot abide prolonged mouse, trackpoint, trackpad, or touch screen usage.
I do agree overall that the info will be nice to have any how
Full Controller support means it supports XInput controller so you can use the game with no mouse/keyboard from the moment it starts
Potential controller support means some parts you will need to use a K/B, like lets say a lunch menu for the game or the like
Is there any game on Steam that only supports controllers?
A trackball is a mouse no? I mean it has it's not build the same, but its a mouse in the end of the day
Good then stick with it. Most games don't care since a trackball is just a mouse as far as the software is conncerned. The signalls it sends to the system are the same. Any game that uses a mouse will also use a trackball. So again this is really already handled.
The only thing I can do is map the extra buttons for Middle Mouse Button and Autoscroll. The SetPoint software doesn't have an option for binding MouseWheelUp and MouseWheelDown.
Styx isn't the only game that I've come across where mouse scroll wheel up/down was mandatory. Most games map mouse scroll wheel up/down to zoom in/out (such as Don't Starve) but I believe game menu options allowed rebinding those game functions.. Styx does not.
Most games map mousewheel to zoom or weapon switching.. Most games allow this to rebound. Drop a line on the Styx forum and mention this. Devs myight rig up a patch or offer some other solution.
Your problem with that game is simply that you're an outrlier. Like someone with a Dvorak keyboard. Tryu the solutions I mentioned. A quick search already found a solution like":

Though I would also recommend simply grabbing a trackball that has a scroll wheel. They make those.
Popular general-rule-of-thumb is that "you get what you pay for" -which I have to disagree with for trackballs as I've plunked down more money for other trackballs that were like hand torture/carpal tunnel catastrophes. Thumb-style trackballs (Microsoft & Logitech) seem the worst at everything. The big billiard ball trackballs (Kensington) are ok but your hand/sleeves get caught on the edges when quickly moving. The size of the Trackman ball is perfect, allows 3 middle fingers to precisely control cursors, and the size of the hump is akin to the way a hand at rest, palm down would be.
Curiously I saw Microsoft Trackball Explorer being sold for hundreds of dollars. Perhaps MS no longer makes those -which is good as it was another mediocre hand/sleeve catcher.
The best trackball I found was the Logitech Trackman Marble so I stuck with it. And I haven't tried an ergonomic or split ergonomic or Dvorak keyboard but I can see where it could help. I'm fine with qwerty keyboards and even mice, it's just that my lazy hand now prefers the comfort for long-haul gaming using my trackball.
As comfortable as I am with the Trackman, I'd rather just use a wheel mouse than any other uncomfortable trackball. Better that I find a software solution. I'm still awaiting further reply from Styx game support and I'll be calling Logitech today (odd they don't provide email support unless new purchase but they do provide phone support).
Bottomline: I would like to see Steam list things on the Store page for games like game Menu Options, or even mandatory full Menu screenshots so potential buyers/players can get an idea if they can rebind keys/buttons, graphics options, etc. so that the game fits their play style.
As for trackballs: Have you looked at these two.

And Yeah I doi understand where you're coming from . You ever try to find a left-handed 5+ button mouse? Never mind that the default layout in games assumes WASD as opposed to the arrow keys..
Again. mention to the devs, maybe visit the publisher/devs website and drop them a direct email. I did something similar for Bleed and the dev actually whipped up a nifty custom executable that solved my problem.
Styx is admittedly an unusual outlier.
True StartRun: they really don't make default accomodations for lefties.
Agreed: As it is the Steam Store page for each title is kinda overloaded with information; I just wish I could tell whether games were cruddy ports with pc configs slapped on as an afterthought or if there are solutions to some of my particular pc concerns.
Ah well. I'm not the target market for many games it seems.
