Animated 500x500, up to 200kb profile image

i think it would be cool if people who reach past level 50 and not be vac banned can animate their profile image.
Of course one rule should be,
*No flashing imagry
and also be 100x100 to 500x500 exact and be up to 200kb

No thank you. I don't need animated body parts waving at me or even nastier stuff happening in it.

You would also be forcing people to use up bandwidth for dumb little videos that would more then likely would be heavily abused. It takes support a while to get around to removing stuff now, imagine if they had to sit there and watch a whole animated gif just to see if it breaks the rules.

And then you have the games that use peoples avatars, it could break them just because they have all been build to expect the format that valve has now instead of animated gifs, and in many cases there is no one around to be able to fix the game as development has ended on them long ago and there is no one around to update the code for it.

It's a nice thought but would likely be implemented only on steam profiles where you can have GIFs in your "artwork showcase" which is what users currently do if they want animations.

500x500x what? Pixels? You know how freaking large that is? It's almsot an eigth of the screen estate of a 1080p display.

That is a dumb idea and will change literally nothing.
People are cheating with 20k€ in their inventory, noone will care about 20 bucks.

that's where the vac ban restrictions and level cap comes in. it's to help keep ppl from exploiting it or useing it incorrectly.

even if they has a high level or 1000k€ in their bank. if they get a Vac ban on a server, they should be restricted of steam features like this one.

Yeah, because having a big easy to read GIF that scrolls through various scamming sites or spoils the new GoT episode or latest blockbuster, shows explicit sexual content, is designed to trigger epilepsy or whatever else our less beloved parts of the community will come up with is not going to be abused ever.
Or displaying a big fat "Steam Admin" badge as avatar and tell people you're totall legit and that's why you have such a special avatar.

Money isn't an issue for everyone and even less so if you have a good chance of making tback the initial investment.

some sites require a perfect 1x1 box so the site can easily resize it to the size it needs to be. like how steam automatically resized your png of whatever symbol that is.
