Group Leveling system
I want to find a way to give object to groups, make it worth joining and sticking around in a group in steam its self, I'm aware of the fact that groups popularity is based off of the amount of effort put in by the hosts. That's great, but completely irrelevant.

So my thought was that they add a sort of leveling system for the groups.

EXP :
Each person in the group has a chance at earning Experience to level up their group.
For starters, there should be a sub-page for each group where players can see challenges for obtaining EXP/leader boards/top players ect. EXP will be similar to the profile xp.

Here are a few ways i thought players might be able to obtain experience for the group.
1. Visiting daily

2. Referring friends(When joining, you will be able to select refereed by, and then click on who-evers name. The EXP goes to the group as a whole, but the player that refereed you is the one to have the EXP added to their account on the group leader boards.

3.Game challenges. The group leader each week can select from a list of games, and then challenges for those games will be added to the main group page with a timer, you need to complete the challenges before the end of the week before they reset. (As far as challenges, depending on how skilled the programmers are at valve, they would need to start with "Time Played) challenges. So for example, "Play 10 hours of CSGO". Depending on how skilled they are, they can start digging deeper into tracking kills/jumps/deaths ect.

How can valve profit off of this?
Well the challenges can be for games you don't necessarily own, so depending on your level of competitiveness, you might be trying to complete every daily challenge you can, becoming the top EXP achiever in your group. Which means purchasing games you don't own. *wink wink* valve ;)

Obviously leveling cant be for nothing, we need rewards. The rewards would be beneficial to group upgrades. Like....
1.Group profile backgrounds that can be traded/sold on the community market(group use only) Which creates a whole new level of the market for valve *wink wink*..

2. Level milestones - similar to player profiles. Screen shots/art work show cases that the group leader can update and do a sort of "Featured" screens shots(just an example, they can do whatever they want with it).

Groups are fun, and for the most part only as fun as the host makes it. At least this sort of thing will give players the chance to visit a single group a bit more often then ONCE.

Valve, if this is too much for your team, i will gladly come on over and program it in for free.

Or you could do more work yourself.

Organise tournaments
1 on 1 challenges (knives only)
Leaderboards
Streams of how-to be better at X game

All of which you can do right now.

I cant wait for refer post to groups spammed over fourms, and more of that type

I like idea of chalanges but they need i think to do it as part of Steamworks so devs can add it like achivments, but something more aimed at groups

how ever, i dissagree abut rewords for it, or as anything else of the type it will just be cheated
So i think it needs to be contined inside the group it self
maybe also allow groups toments where a few groups can enter a chalange with groups that wish to join, and add there a leader boerd
