SteamCMD logs me out of Steam client on same computer
Although I can upload a mod in my game of choice, I prefer to use SteamCMD to upload a thumbnail for my mod because then it isn't part of my mod file.

Every time I do this, I am logged out of the Steam client if it's running on the same computer, and I have to log back into it when I'm done with SteamCMD.

Steam guys: It's getting to the point where I'm like, why the hell am I bothering to upload mods to Workshop. I do get asked to upload my non-Workshop mods to Workshop, but I'm considering just saying no in the future or opting for a sans-thumbnail upload because it's a thankless chore.

Regards,

Sam Edwards

Go ask it somewhere else. We don't help with 3rd party issues

Thanks for your response. I will now go file it away in the 'who is this guy and what is his problem' box.

SteamCMD is so 3rd party it's got it's own Valve dev page.

SteamCMD is from Steam, and is not a 3rd Party
The Steam site/client is also part of Steam, and so is the workshop (the interface not the files in there)
So these is not abut 3rd party, so your response here will be sadly incorrect

@OP
I do not think i heard abut getting logout of the client as you say, so i will like to try and test it out, as it dose sound some what odd

Also having this issue. Whenever I login with steamcmd I get "disconnected" from my steam client which means I have to completely restart Steam client and relogin. Super annoying.

If the game you're modding for supports it, it may be possible to make a mod which allows you to specify your own thumbnail during the upload process. For example, Publisher Plus is a RimWorld mod which does this.

WHy is this still a problem 7 years later? How do you bump a topic so Steam actually sees it and does something about it? It is abysmal to try to deal with this when trying to upload new builds for a Steam product. Approve the stupid prompt then manually click 3 buttons to finally open the code because the app is all "You shouldn't have to give the code to anybody just use the QR" then I HAVE TO WAIT for the upload to finish ENTIRELY or it just bricks when I log back into my regular Steam client. Separate the CMD and Client logins dude seriously freaking 7 years its been known at least. Come on

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
