Steam monthly payment
I've had this idea for a while and didn't know if anyone submitted so, I just thought why doesn't steam add an option for monthly payments through your steam wallet or credit card for games if you don't have the pay for the game but don't want to wait to get it. Example, GTA 6 theoretically comes out and I have 30 short for it, I can put a down payment on it and pay monthly till I reached the price of the item I am purchases. This idea could help people with financial issues, especially if they want a new game but don't want to put it on visa. Plox considerm8

Or how about they save up money every month until they can afford the game? That solution would be better, in my opinion.

Steam is not a bank. There are several pament providers who offer an instalment plan. Yet I doubt any would offer it to Steam where credit card fraud and chargebacks are quite common.

To be fair, if it was publisher based which would mean it would be completely optional, I wonder if what EA does with Origin Access could be done on Steam.

I've had my share of responses to this.

Not unless publishers agreed to it.

Which is exactly why I said "publisher based" and "completely optional"?

I'm just wondering if tools to allow that could be in place.

That's a completely different topic. OP talks about getting a loan.

Yeah, I know what OP meant.

I just felt this was close enough an idea to toss it in, but it's still sidestepping. Sorry.

If OP wants to pay games in parts, they'd have better luck with physical stores.

I do not think Valve would take the risk to give random gamers loans, money they could end up losing, because the gamer decide not to pay because he disliked the game.

There is only one part to pay for all the money Valve might lose on this, and that is all the rest who buy their games when they have the money aka prices would go up.

Do as everyone else, buy when you have the money.

No, is my short version.
If you're having financial hardships buying a game shouldn't be your main priority anyway.

If you need to save up and buy later, you don't need Steam to do it for you. If you're having trouble saving money, again, you have higher priorities than buying games.

Paypal offers it, though just like credit cards, if you do not pay it off within a month you are charged interest.

There are two ways to do this:
1. Buy the amount or part of it in Steam Wallet card(s) and redeem those cards. Now you have your money tied up inside Steam and you can't use it to buy food/gas/etc..
2. Save the money in your bank until later. This way, in case you need to buy something else outside of Steam, you have the option to do so.

Option 2 is strictly better, unless someone is stealing from your bank account, in which case you have a different problem.

BNo publisher is ever going to agree to that because much as when this is done with appliances, cars and even homes, people find creative ways to skimp out on the last few payments..

You don't have enough to pay this month, so you put a down payment and then get the game, You beat it in the montha nd lo and behoild you simply abandon the account. Wash rinse repeat.

Just set aside even $5 a month.

That's not how Origin Access works, but never mind. I should've just deleted the post.

I already had my responses.

It was sidestepping to begin with, just something I thought of while reading "monthly subscriptions"

EDIT: Well, striked it out.
