Please check and update your censoring program
If you are underaged, please don´t read this text.

Hi,

In my language words pu_to (singular), pu_tá (plural) means Bond (as relationship), tie, shackle, handcuffs, manacle. I know that this word in Spanish means female dog - which is also normal word, just check wikipedia. Same as you can call women Cow, you can call her female dog. You wouldn´t ban all words just so nobody is offended.
But back to topic, in Spanish it is a bad word. But not in my language. I started writing walkthroughs/ guides and those words are in them very often. Please, deactivate it for Slovak language.

Also from other side, you censoring word bo_rdel from my language. It means mess (physically, garbage, ragged clothes, etc), or chaos. Yes, it can be used for house offering sex services, but it is just transfered meaning of slang. Normally even extremely polite people told their children "Clean up your room, you have mess / bor del here."

And extremely off topic but why do you ban word of female/ male offering sex services starting with "P"? It is normal word, desciption of profession, it is on wikipedia, it is used in news, it is used normally among people.
If its relation with sex is problem, then you would have to ban all worlds like slavery, pedophilia, rape, murder, stealing, cannibalism - I personally think that those things are much worse than sex.
And it is also offending against all who work at this profession. Some choose it, but some were forced by circumstances, or forced by bad people. You disrepsect them just by not acknowledging their existence.
And also in games they are quite common characters. How would you refer to them in guides, or discussions? It is crazy, some whole quests in games are connected with them.

Ass is another word for donkey. It's also the word for "Ace" (as in e,g, the card) in some languages.

I remember way back at release of World of Warcraft there was a group quest where you had to kill a pig named Princess in the human starting zone. Of course people asked a lot for help. It made many shut off the filter because in their wisdom Blizzard decided to filter the German word for "pig". Because, you know, you can insult people calling them pig.
Also in the early days of EA's online service we had to prefix nearly every word with "x" to circumvent the filter, because somewhere somehow they could be used as in insult.

You learn to live with it*. There are probably other words you can use, aren't there?

(* It's also one of the reason why I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about the filter, if anyone wondered. :steamhappy: )

For guides you need to deal with such words. If you have one such word in discussion, it is no problem. But for guides, when you have 100 times such word....
And especially since in my language those words are normal as I wrote (bonds, handcuffs).

And you can insult people anyway. Yes, pig, camel, cow, snake, sloth, elephant, penguin, etc. You can use description of things, anatomically correct words, comparison (old as colloseum, etc), there is no problem to insult someone, if you want.
And you can insult without bad words. In one discussion someone insult me and my family and my lifestyle without using any invective. Only targeted description with clear inted to insult. His problem was that I dare to say it was good game, but need more story.

If you want have absolutely politcally correct forum, than you will have to ban hundreds of words. And have forum about my little ponnies for kindergarten.

For insults there are moderators and people can report such things. Children will be children and we are here many adults. You don´t make people well-mannered in real life if you ban some words in forum. Same as murders don´t disappear if you don´t talk about them.
As a child I was taught to deal with problems, not to close eyes before them and pretend they don´t exist.

And as I mentioned in my first post, it is offensive against whole group of humans. Yes, these days are people offended always and you never could please all of them. That is how diíctatorships rising in state if you want to make hard rules without any flexibility.

:taloslol:

you are using a service that is privately owned and operated.

if you cant deal with the measures and rules they put in to place, feel free to find another service.

Yes, very mature. I don´t complain about rules. I complain, that word that means bond, or handcuffs is censored. And word mess in my own language is censored.

And third part was off topic, but it really interested me. Do you read my post, or you just focused on title, find one sentence that can be ridiculed and wrote "obey, or leave"?
Do you understand that with this approach they will be able to do anything? Remove paid games from your library. Why, because its are rules. If you don´t like it, find another service.
And it is not just privately owned service. It is service to which I paid hundreds of Euros. You can complain, or make suggestions in Hotel, laundry, restaurant, car wash, everywhere. I am paying customer.

I saw many irrational and stupid complains about games, about steam and about anything in general. What I wrote here was normal request for my language and question. Or am I not allowed to ask questions?

if they wanted it to be censored, it will be censored regarless if it means something completely different in another language.

the word filter is all or nothing when it comes to languages.

they arent going to change this. if anything, they will add more to the filter.

But it is simply disriminatory. Against my country and language and nation. And in present times it could be taken as racist and xenophobic attack about my ethnicity. I know it is stupid, but many people and governments used such things really seriously.

Try to imagine that something common in your language is censored. Like "house", or "person", etc.
And "if they wanted". I must repeat, I am paying customer. And I am forced to use this service. Don´t take it wrong. I like steam. But with many games you don´t have other options how to play them without Steam. So by buying games I payed them for their services. Therefore I can make requests and complains.
I understand that here are millions of users and everyone want something. But I don´t want pictures, or videos, or butterflies, or porn channel, or I really don´t know what. I just want that they ended something that is useless, offensive and stupid.

It have no meaning and value. I read many philosophical books about morality and ethics so I can tell you that this is just so they are protect against crazy parents who found out some bad word and start to sue, because they don´t think they should educate their children, but all others (Steam, School, Games, etc).

yes. the steam services are for ages 13 and up. minors need to be protected because their parents cant do it themselves and will try to sue for allowing such words/phrases to be used.

so this protects valve by flatout censoring what they feel is necessary to avoid litigation.

But as I explained, those words aren´t bad. And you can use many words in offensive way, while they aren´t offesnive themselves.

This is sick american morality, which I comment few times. There is no problem with game where you kill thousands of people, where you can butcher them, dismemberd, or incinerate. But naked beast, no, end of the world, suing everyone involved and even few which have nothing to do with it. Send children to church, or hospital, because breast are devils spawns. If all breasts are covered, kids can kill and dismembered and beheaaded because it is fun.

There have to be rules. Of course. Anarchy also istn´t good. But this are common words.
At least word in my language that means nothing in other languages should be uncensored. It is simply unbelievable.

I really hope for answer from Steam, so please restrain yourself with jokes.
