Steam Overlay apps
So steam overlay is a great thing. But it could use some improvements and apps. So some of you might think that this will bring just more bloatware on Steam. Actually it wouldn't because just like players can decide which games from their library will be instaled, they can also decide which apps will be installed.

My suggestions for Steam overlay apps are:
- Chrome
- Discord
- Notes
- better Music player (so that you can adjust the game volume in the player and search by track (song))
- reminders (count down timers to remind you of a task you need to do in real world :P )

No offence but his post has nothing to do with mine. Plus this is for suggestions/ideas only. So his comment should not be in this section of forum.
And I said "please".... no dictator says "please. :steamhappy:

when it comes to the steam client, it is all or nothing. there are only 2 versions of the steam client, beta and non-beta.

adding apps with the option to enable or disable them will mean there will be different versions of those 2 clients. this would be a mess when it comes to updates and bugs.

there are already known issues with some pc apps that conflict with the steam client. that would have to be resolved even before thinking about adding in anything to it.

Making the music player inside the overlay is good since the current music player open itself as other windows (which i found it disgusting)

Reminder/Notes is the important feature for most of the people. Adding it with timers would make Steam Overlay better.

And then Chrome... seriously?

OK Chrome is a bit hard on the RAM but it is a good web browser and you can not deny that. Mozilla Firefox is also a good alternative. And a better voice chat (like Discord) would be awesome because Steams solution unfortunately sucks.

For those that don't know, Steam uses a custom chromium browser which is the same engine that Chrome is built on.

How its changed, I don't know. But thats what I have read about it.

Yes but Chromium is a very stripped down Chrome. Steams integrartion has web browser abilitys and nothing more (like addons, bookmarks,...).
I think this is a good idea in general but some of your suggestions aren't great.

I think having a new browser would be a bad idea, we don't need anything fancy like addons, I mean do you really want to bog down a browser you're barely gonna be using? I'd rather have it be simple and work.
Stuff like facebook messenger/other messaging apps, discord, notes etc. is good, just useful things that are hard to use while in a game.
