trading cooldown for a dumb reason
so many flaws in steam that needs to be updated, hire someone that knows how to do the job right. i had a pistol that i was giving as a gift to a friend, but decided to cancel it, also i trade a knife on opskins to sell to a bot, but someone wanted to trade a knife with me so i cancelled and now i have a trading cooldown and not allowed to trade anyone ? -___-

Cancelling a trade results in that 15 day cooldown. System is working as expected.

a flaw in steam system as expected, i have the right to cancel trades because its my item, yet get punished for it
I kinda miss Steam before the 12 years olds whined about getting their stuff scammed for being idiots, before the nanny state kicked in.

No, you agreed to a trade and gone nuclear to stop it. Each trade is final. The cancellation is meant for people who got their account compromised and not for one's who have second thoughts. If it weren't for the escrow your items would be gone.

ur thinking only 1 dimensional, which isnt a surprise because most society thinks like that, there r people like me, who traded an opskin bot so it could post for sale on their website, but decided to cancel to trade a real person that wanted my knife but got trade cooldown, u didnt think about that because ur a 1 dimensional thinker

No, you pulled out of a perfectly fine sales contract.
If you go buy a car and tell the seller to wait a week for you to get the money, you'd be pissed when you get there and he tells you you're out of luck, but he rather sold the car to someone else who did pay more or sooner.

The fact that it is clearly stated right above the "SMASH ME" button what that option is for and that you will receive a trade cooldown, doesn't help your case either.

If you would have accepted the trade under old conditions or with an authenticator, you'd be SOL and the trade would have gone through. You took advantage of the situation for personal gain.

There is no need to cancel a trade once you accept it

That's not a flaw

Its ironic you complian about 'one dimensional' thinking when you are totally guilty of that. the one dimension being the world only you inhabit with your own needs superceeding all others.

When you accept a trade you are entering a contract for that. You cancelling that contract has consequences. Otherwise people would cancel trades constantly just to troll others or other such abuses.

When you accept a trade, you are saying the trade is valid. At that point there is no valid reason to cancel the trade. Ifyou do there are consequences.

r u retarded ? ur comment made no sense, the trade is under MY terms, if u wanna put it that way, me putting my car on craigslist, and it will take a while for someone to buy it, or should i trade it with a person that wants to trade a better car, u should just keep ur mouth shut just made uself look dumb

i didnt say the flaw was cancelling, the flaw is trade cooldown, just because u cancel an item u get a cooldown of 7-15 days, im trying to make it simple as possible for u to understand but u dont get it, thats one dimensional thinking

A trade that is on hold (that both parties fully agreed to) is to be canceled for unauthorized trades. If the trade is unauthorized it makes sense that the account is likely compromised. That's why the 1 week trade hold kicks in so you have time to secure your account before the bad guy can do further damage.

You might use the system for other purposes, but it is not designed to be used that way so you have to deal with the consequences(the cooldown). In short, accepting the trade is like a contract between 2 users. If a party does not fulfill their end of the agreement, then they suffer a penalty (the cooldown).

finally someone with some brains @charlest, i understand if both players were trading something, but mine was a gift, that he didnt want, so i cancelled the trade, and the 2nd trade was to an opskin bot to post it up for sale, which i cancelled because someone else wanted it, people r going against what im saying, but when it happens to them watch them cry

I haven't really thought this through, but I think the best alternative would be if they implemented an "agreed cancellation" where as long as both parties agree, a trade could be cancelled without penalty of cooldown.

The system does not know its a 'gift'. It cannot know intention

It only knows actions

You have to verify the trade when you send it and both parties accept it. After that if you cancel it then you are renegging on a contract you made with that person. As such the system punishes you for it because you agreed to trade that to that person. The system doesn't know the other person is 'your friend'. You could be ripping someone off. The system doesn tknow that.

The trades are not on 'your' terms. If you want 'your' terms make your own trade infractructure and make 'your' own rules.

A "gift" is still a trade; it's merely a trade where one person gives nothing in return. If he didn't want it then he should have cancelled the trade.

i know that.. they should make it so that its even with innocent people as well, its punishing bad for and also punishing innocent people and thats not how things should work, just like mobile steam guard, only working for iphones and androids and not for people with no phones or with other types of phones
