AVG is notorious for false positives, and in some cases has been found recently to actively block/delete/quarantine Steam files.

Please uninstall it, install Microsoft Security Essentials[windows.microsoft.com] instead (its free), reboot your PC, then verify integrity of game cache for Dwarfs.

What do you think the real virus is in this example?
There are plently of good antivirus programs out there.
i think steam has a problem

No Steam does not have a problem - if Steam had a problem EVERY anti-virus in use, (and there are a lot of them,) would be reporting it.

Only AVG ever reports this 'virus' - AVG is the problem
game is trying to install a trojan horse, but keep smileing.
No problem, its just a smal iceberg, no reason to worry.
Champange will be served on the bow as we sink. And the violins keep playing.

I honestly think he's just trolling now
Even the AVG forums say this is a false positive.
If you want a free anti-virus I'd suggest Comodo/Microsoft Security Essentials + MalwareBytes over AVG, though I prefer I the pro version of MB. These two have offered me better performance than NOD64 etc. esp. as a gamer as they are not resource hogs. MB is just pure awesome anyway.

Avast!, Comodo firewall and Malwarebytes here.

MB is cheap and lifetime updates. Avast! and Comodo are free. There is a Comodo with both a firewall and AV if you want it simple.
Comodo is horrible unless you want tyrant level blocking of everything. Same with AVG. You want something super nice? Try Vipre. Not sure if there is a free version, but it's currently the world's best anti virus. MB is a staple for security, no question about that :>!

Software firewall is generally pretty bad overall. The only one you need is the one that comes with windows. If you truly need a firewall, I recommend you buy a router that has one built in.
Everyone thinks that know what the "best" AV is. Everytime AV is talked about, some will say their's is the best. If it works, use it. With every patch and every update an new AV becomes the best.

My Comodo firewall is set up to block everything unless I say it is ok to let through. It is the closes I have found to the old Segate Personal Firewall. Things can still get through a router firewall, it isn't perfect, and I can't just click an allow button if I want to let something through. I have to stop what I am doing, go in and creat an exception.

Both hardware and software firewalls have their place and both should be used.
