i'm new to steam, like an hour new so idk how this works really. y would steam have down time? is it due to the server(s) crashing, or shutting down for maintenence or updates, or to change ads?

Whether they are up or down I still noticed when I had problems the links when out to the browser and not in the steam page. Just thought I'd note it while your working on forums and such.

No the forums are still down I've tried to use them via google search for fix and still get a we're working on stuff message.

Hi guys.

Having a problem connecting to steam, hasnt worked for the last 2 or 3 days, just says I am unable to connect to steam network because of my internet connection, but I am posting here so its clearly working perfectly.

Anyone have any ideas?

If not, there should be no problem posting when servers are down....that is, when game servers are down, of course.

Have you tried contacting your internet provider - I mean, just to rule the possibility out? Who knows, it might actually be a problem there - though it does seem odd if you can connect everywhere else, including this forum.

I'm currently having the same issue; I can't log in to Steam since it apparently cannot connect to the Steam network. This is after I just reinstalled it since it was trying to update and giving me an error about being unable to uncompress (error =-3) and crashing.'

... This is when it decides to launch at all.

EDIT: I rebooted into Safe Mode, launched and updated, everything was fine, and now it works normally.
