Yes, sometimes. I do not use English client so I can not even reproduce it exactly. But something like: "The Steam servers are currently unavailable, please try again later". Or "Account verification failed."

And this happens after you have logged in, or are you trying to log in during the downtime?
If it's the latter, then you just have to wait for the downtime to be over. However, considering they are usually no longer than 5 minutes and, if planned, announced here then it shouldn't be too problematic for you.

I do not really matter how long the downtime, it's the principle, because without Steam I would not have these problems. All non-steam games always work out so ;-)

Every service has to have downtime to ensure the stability of the service as a whole. It's a necessary evil, I'm afraid.

But without Steam we wouldn't have the big sales events that happen throughout the year, we wouldn't have automatic updates for our games and many of us wouldn't have our primary source of communication with friends (Steam Chat!). You may not like Steam as a game launcher but it certainly comes with a lot of neat additions that, in my opinion, make Steam more than worth it!

It can be frustrating when these things happen but hey, it's only for a short period of time..and those 'missions', 'levels' in games can always be done again, just try to think...ah, Steam needs to carry out maintenance, to help keep me supplied with the service it provides (much for free) and it wont be forever, I'll just make use of the time and get on with something else for a while..s'not the end of the world ;)

hello everyone,
I am having problems starting my game civilization sid meyer:
when I double clik on the icon of the game steam attempted to update, and then attempts to connect to my steam account, then a window opens to tell me that the network connection is not steam, that is mode "offline" is not on my computer because there is no information to my computer connection. I had not logged on for less than a month ...
What should I do?

It is but a matter of principle, I have paid for something and ask that I can use it at any time 24/7. When we are already forcing a useless forced registration, please also so that we can use it around the clock.

Just to double check here, when did they start maintenance? Im assuming sometime this morning as i was able to play last night. Trying to play cod but need to be connected to steam service...which i am, but i guess i am actually not? lol

Was able to play online until 15 minutes ago...

Idk, on the community page it says there are over 2,000 people playing, but that could just be singleplayer... Its wierd because steam says im online, but on the bottom it says "no connection." tried restarting but no luck. I clicked on the link above to see if there are any maintenance issues and there is nothing for today listed...only the one that was a few days ago. Basically this is dumb.
