The more you know, the less likely you are to get scammed.

I stopped caring right there. You just ignored every warning Steam puts up and make yourself a target. I see now you paid attention to the warnings after the fact.
If you like the game enough it is worth throwing a few dollars at it to support the game and the employees that work on it for a living.
$45 is hardly a 'few dollars' and you're talking about ONE virtual 'pixel item' here, not paying for a game itself and supporting the developers. The sale of in-game acquired 'virtual items' through private paypal transactions - assuming ANY of them ever actually happen without being scams (I'm not convinced) does not in any way support the "game and the employees who work on it for a living." Purchasing the GAME does.
A P2P can cost $60.00. MMO'S cost $50.00 plus $15.00 a month. $45.00 is normally less than what you would spend on a game so it a bargain. If you are poor than you have the option of not buying anything but in a case like that the game would not exist if not for those supporting it with purchases. If you play this game and do not buy than you should be thanking him for helping to make sure you can play for free.
How you can say these purchases do not support the developer baffles me. Explain. Someone had to buy those keys, did they not? Trading outside the trade window does not support them as much as purchasing in the store for sure.
You are simply not grasping the actual topic here. I'm talking about the sale of virtual items, acquired through in game play (regardless of whether the game is f2p or not), between two game players through a service such as paypal. Explain to me how the 'developers' are getting any of that transaction money?
What is it that you want 'support' with? I'm pretty sure everyone with a brain agrees that scams are bad and should be avoided ... the reality of the situation is that most people do not read the important notices Steam gives them (how to keep your account safe, how to trade safely) and are ignorant of the rules so they get scammed. Knowledge is power. I'm not sure what it is you're asking for here.
You're trying to tell me that these games don't have drops that people try to sell for real life money?
Do you even Steam?
Not saying that. Your point was clearly against anyone buying virtual items from anyone. As long as they are not spending your money why care? In this case the developers made money one the keys. They can bypass the cash flo yes but that was not your point.
What support are you expecting? You got scammed in trade - all you can do is report the scammer either by his profile page or to Steam support and educate yourself by reading the links that Spawn of Totoro posted in the first reply to your original post so that you don't fall for such scams again.
