Crysis 2 Maximum Edition

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition

System freeze after several minutes in game.
So I recently bought the Humble Origin Bundle and installed Crysis 2 to my desktop computer. After a while in the game my computer seems to freeze, screens go black, sound loops for a while then go silent, and the computer never recovers unless I hold the power button. I updated my BIOS, thinking it was an issue with the FX processors. All this did however is extend how long before it is likely to freeze. So I gave up after a while.

Now I just purchased Natural Selection 2, and after a while it too would freeze. I am lost as to what to do now, though I am certain that it isn't specific to Crysis 2 anymore.

Things I have tried are:
-Run as administrator.
-Run Steam as administrator.
-Run in compatability mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
-Disabled visual themes, desktop composition, and display scaling on high DPI settings.
-Deleted the "appcache" folder.
-Verified game cache.
-Disabled DirectX 11 in the game settings.
-Used lower resolutions and set all settings as low as they can go in the settings menu.
-Updated my graphics driver.
-Updated my motherboard BIOS.
-Ran memory tests (all of which detected no issues).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My system specs:
CPU: FX-6100 3.3 GHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850
MoBo: GA-990FXA-UD3
16 GB of RAM (2x8GB G.SKILL Ripjaw X (F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL))
WD Blue 1TB HDD
Windows 7 64-bit

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things I have done since posting this:
-Stress test with FurMark (Extreme Burn-in and Post-FX, 1080p, 8x MSAA)
-Stress tests with Prime95
I am having the same problem, I'm happy to see that this isn't only me that has this problem, hopefully this is something someone can fix.
The sound loop seems familiar - I think you have a RAM problem - either insufficient memory or insufficient memory is available for the game to use
Overheating video card.
I don't think it is, I just checked the minimum required memory for the game that this occurs with, I still have plenty of Memory to spare, even when the game is in use.
I don't think overheating is an issue, the GPU temp stays at a steady 57C when tested with FurMark, including the extreme burn-in and post-fx settings.
alright, Steam replied to this problem, apparently it's a problem with the CPU, apparently it's outdated and it should be replaced, these are the links they sent me; http://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3762-FHLN-3558
I have already tried this, but I will try it again just to be sure (updating down to the recommended even though I have the latest ones).
On top of that, the link they provide is for the UD7 motherboard, not the UD3 like I have.
It's for information, it says at the bottom that you might have to search online for your motherboard.
Well I found my motherboard and all and tried updating through all the BIOS that supported my processor, and still no luck, black screen crash still occurs after a while.
Wrong. Did you read the link? The CPU is fine and is pretty new. It is the bios that needs updated on the motherboard. Updating the bios is not uncommon. You need to download the correct bios from the motherboard manufacture, enter your bios and flash it to the newest version.
People that try to give computer advice and know nothing do more damage then good.
yeah, I'm not that bright...
I would not assume that. People have their own areas of expertise and are very unskilled in other areas. That does not mean you can not learn computers as well as anyone else. .
What version is your bios? It should tell you when the computer is booting if you are not sure.
