Cant install any games on steam. says i have no internet connection when i clearly do.
so i tried installing team fortress 2 and i clicked install and a error comes up saying that i have no internet connection when i clearly do and have full strength. i can go on the internet just fine and as im posting this, am connected to steam just fine. i also tried another game ad tried getting dota 2 and it says i already have the game. so i click play now and it takes me to the community tab of dota 2. and idk how to even play and ive never installed the game either so i was puzzled when it told me i had it already. i have a macbook pro and its running mac OS X mountain lion if that matters and i just had the "you couldnt connect to steam servors" and i finally fixed that today and now i cant even install games. all i wanna do is play games on steam please help thank you

THere's a specific forum for mac users. you may look there too. It seems to me that you'1re offline ? sometimes, when you start steam, it will enter offline mode...go to steam menu, and select fo online, or even better, restart steam. Also check you're firewall as it may be blocking your steam.exe

It seems to be certain accounts. This forum thread discusses a fix using a secondary account (you just need another email address) and using the family sharing option to install the game from the second account. You can then play it from your primary account.

That's all nice and well but steam needs to at least identify the reason why this is happening, I'm pretty skeptical at this point that it's an end-user issue considering how many accounts seem to be affected.

I have this same problem for some reason. I have tried everything even some other things I've found on the net that worked for others.

Same and now games that need to update wont let me play until they update, but they cant - no internet connection. Event viewer states two errors pertainting to Steam - failed to add firewall exception for steamwebhelper.exe & steam.exe. Windows firewall was disabled when these errors came through and i've also manually added them into the firewall after enabling it - no luck there.

I am having this issue... Was waiting for the FF14 maintenance to be done and thought I'd install my rpg maker xp to fiddle a bit while waiting. It kept refusing to download due to lack of connection even though I was connected. I have done everything under the sun with steam suggestions and other peoples suggestions and finally got fed up and set my comp back to factory settings. low and behold... still doesn't work.. wtf??

I've been searching for a fix to my problem for ages. All I did was go on steam offline and go back online. TY <3
